Houston Methodist West Hospital Unveils $247 Million Expansion to Enhance Healthcare Services
Houston Methodist West Hospital has announced its ambitious $247 million expansion project, set to begin later this year with expected completion by 2027. This project represents a massive investment in the growth and development of healthcare facilities in West Houston, particularly benefiting the people of Katy and its surroundings, one of Texas’ quickest expanding regions.
This initiative is one of the largest expansion projects in the 14-year existence of Houston Methodist West Hospital. "We are embarking on this expansion journey with great enthusiasm, reaffirming our dedication to serving the evolving needs of our community," stated Wayne M. Voss, CEO of Houston Methodist West Hospital. He believes that the expansion will significantly uplift their capacity to deliver exceptional care, close to home.

The planned expansion will cover over 129,000 square feet of new and redeveloped service areas. Crucial enhancements will include a new 36-bed observation unit, boosting the hospital’s total bed count to 307. Additionally, the expansion will incorporate four cutting-edge operating rooms, 16 extra emergency department rooms, five more neonatal intensive care unit beds, and an endoscopy suite. It will also feature an infusion center with six more suites and advanced imaging equipment, and upgraded patient and visitor services, including a 24/7 gift shop, an Einstein's Bagels location and refreshed coffee shop.
In tandem with the main campus expansion, Houston Methodist plans to set up a new comprehensive care center in the Fulshear area, extending services beyond the main hospital confines. Located next to its existing emergency center in Cinco Ranch, this new 65,000 square-foot facility will offer primary care and same-day clinic, imaging, lab services, and physical therapy, along with specialized care in a number of fields.
Kyle R. Stanzel, the VP & Chief Operating Officer at Houston Methodist, shared, "We are committed to providing the highest level of care to our community. This expansion allows us to better serve our patients with state-of-the-art facilities and comprehensive services."
