CFISD Departments Give Back During Thanksgiving
Throughout the month of November, several CFISD departments celebrated the season of giving by collecting, providing and donating Thanksgiving-related items to students and families in need.
The student services department and members of the Families in Transition (FIT) program carried out its annual tradition of working with various district departments, community partners and donors to provide gift cards to students and families who qualify as homeless. More than $3,400 was raised, allowing approximately 45 families to receive an Aldi, H-E-B, Kroger, Target or a Walmart gift card to help purchase Thanksgiving meal-related items.
The FIT program also partnered with the Cy-Fair police department in identifying an additional 44 families that received a turkey with trimmings, which were delivered by the Cy-Fair police department.
“I am so grateful to our circle of donors for partnering with student services and the FIT program to make this Thanksgiving holiday a bit more special for our students and families experiencing homelessness,” said Bobbie Jones, CFISD homeless liaison. “It is with their immeasurable generosity that we are making an impact in the lives of others.” The psychological services department partnered with CFISD youth service specialists and the community programs department to donate non-perishable items to the CFISD Food Pantry. Items donated included pastas, sauces, dried beans, rice, bagged cereal, canned protein and macaroni and cheese. In total 1,014 items were donated to the food pantry. |

“We are grateful as a department to come together with other CFISD departments and staff to provide needed items and support within the CFISD community,” said Dr. Traci Schluter, director of psychological services. “The work of the youth service specialists year-round in our district and community should be spotlighted. It is greatly needed and we are honored to have an ongoing partnership with them district-wide.”
