Wells, Pope Students Place 1st, 2nd in Elementary Spelling Bee

Wells Elementary School fifth grade student Edelynn Tang won first place by correctly spelling the word pituitary in the 10th round of the annual CFISD Elementary Spelling Bee, held Feb. 1 at the Berry Center. 

Wells Elementary School fifth grade student Edelynn Tang correctly spelled the word pituitary in the 10th round to win the CFISD Elementary Spelling Bee on Feb. 1.
 

Pope Elementary School fifth grade student Srihita Tadepalli was the runner-up. Both Tang and Tadepalli will represent CFISD at the Houston Public Media Spelling Bee, scheduled for March.

Holmsley Elementary School fifth grade student Noah Murillo participates in the annual CFISD Elementary Spelling Bee. Murillo, along with 55 other campus representatives, were named champions of their respective campus spelling bees.
 

“Each of our campus spelling bee champions shined brightly at the district spelling bee,” said Gaye Stuchly, CFISD Elementary Spelling Bee coordinator. “Their preparation, hard work and determination were obvious as they spelled one challenging word after another. They should all be extremely proud of their accomplishments.”

The top two spellers from the regional bee will qualify for the Scripps National Spelling Bee in National Harbor, Md., May 30-June 1.
