Welcome Houston's Heroes Home with American Legion Post 164 in Katy

March 26 2024

On April 20, 2024, Houston will warmly welcome home a group of its heroic veterans, men and women who served our country gallantly but perhaps did not receive the hero's return they deserved. This long overdue tribute will be made possible by Honor Flight Network, a nationwide organization dedicated to recognizing those who have risked everything for our freedom.

The homecoming will kick off at 5:00 PM, when a caravan of cars will leave from American Legion Post 164, situated at 22125 Kingsland Boulevard, Katy TX 77450. Family members, members of the American Legion Post 164 honor guard, and supportive citizens will then journey to the Hobby Airport to prepare for the anticipated arrival of our veteran heroes.

While the flight from DC is expected to touch down at 7:15 PM, interested parties are encouraged to arrive early at the ticketing area near United. This will give them ample time to prepare welcome posters and think about meaningful questions to ask the veterans. Participants are also recommended to bring snacks to share during this wait.

The Honor Flight is more than just a trip for these warriors. It represents a way for the United States to express its gratitude and admiration for their sacrifice. This singular journey takes veterans to visit the nation's capital, letting them experience firsthand the memorials built to honor their service.

The Honor Flight vision is a simple but profound one: to create a society where all of America's veterans have enjoyed the honor, gratitude, and supportive community they unquestionably deserve. Their mission is to celebrate America's veterans by giving them a day of recognition at our nation's memorials.

As Houston prepares to welcome its veterans back from this monumental journey, the community is invited to be part of this grand tribute. Come with kind words, thoughtful questions, and open hearts. Let's honor our veterans as they should have been honored upon their initial return: as heroes returning from the battlefield, deserving of our respect and admiration.
