Waller-Harris ESD #200 Is Hiring Full-Time Firefighters and Volunteers—Here’s How to Join the Team
Looking for a meaningful way to serve your community? Waller-Harris Emergency Services District #200 (WHESD 200), the fire and emergency service provider for the Anniston community and nearby areas, is now hiring full-time firefighters and welcoming new volunteers.
The district is managed by a board of ESD #200 commissioners who oversee fire and EMS services and funding for ten fire stations located across the unincorporated areas of Waller and Harris Counties. The nearest fire station to Anniston is Station 6, located at 25243 Stockdick School Rd, Katy, TX 77493, about six minutes from the neighborhood.
Whether you're ready to launch a career in fire service or simply want to give back in a hands-on way, this is a great opportunity to make a real impact.
Become a Full-Time Firefighter
WHESD 200 is on the lookout for passionate and dedicated individuals to join their team of professional firefighters. This full-time role includes responding to emergency calls, helping with fire suppression and rescue efforts, and taking part in community outreach and safety education.
To qualify, applicants must be certified as a Basic Firefighter through the Texas Commission on Fire Protection (or higher) and have a current EMT certification. A high school diploma or GED and completion of basic emergency response training courses (NIMS 100, 200, 700, and 800) are also required.
Firefighters work on a 48/96 schedule and receive a strong benefits package, including paid vacation, sick leave, health insurance, retirement contributions, and all necessary uniforms and equipment.

Looking to Volunteer? WHESD 200 Needs You Too
If you're not looking for a full-time job but still want to be part of something bigger, volunteering with WHESD 200 could be your perfect fit. Volunteers support the fire department by assisting on emergency calls, participating in training, and helping with public safety events.
No experience? No problem. WHESD 200 will guide you through the training and certification process. All volunteers must be willing to earn their Firefighter I certification and CPR training, and complete a few basic safety courses. Volunteers also need a valid driver’s license and a strong commitment to serving their neighbors.
