Tomball ISD Earns Seventh Consecutive A Rating, Extending a Record of Strong Academic Performance
For families choosing where to put down roots, parents watching their children move from elementary school toward graduation and longtime residents following the growth of the Tomball area, school performance is more than a number on a state report card.
This year, that number is once again an A for Tomball ISD.
The Texas Education Agency has given Tomball Independent School District an overall 92 out of 100 in the 2025-26 accountability ratings, keeping the district in the state's highest rating category. Tomball ISD says the result represents its seventh consecutive A-rated accountability cycle, continuing a run that has become part of the district's identity as enrollment and the surrounding community have grown.
The district's 2025-26 profile shows 23,202 students across 25 schools, giving the latest results significance well beyond a single campus or grade level.
What Tomball ISD's 2026 A Rating Means
The TEA accountability system looks at more than test scores alone. Districts are evaluated across three major areas: Student Achievement, School Progress and Closing the Gaps, each designed to measure a different part of how schools are serving students.
Tomball ISD earned a 93, or A, in Student Achievement; a 90, or A, in School Progress; and an 89, or B, in Closing the Gaps.
Those individual scores provide a more complete picture of the district's 92 overall rating.
Student Achievement, which considers STAAR performance along with graduation and college, career and military readiness measures, increased from 91 in 2023-24 to 92 in 2024-25 and 93 this year.
School Progress also moved upward, from 88 in 2023-24 to 89 in 2024-25 and 90 in 2025-26, bringing that domain from a B to an A.
Closing the Gaps, which measures how successfully different student groups are performing, received an 89 this year, compared with a 93 in 2024-25 and 92 in 2023-24.
That mix of results gives local families both a reason to recognize the district's overall achievement and a clearer look at where continued work remains.
Student Achievement Stands Well Above State Results
Some of the widest differences between Tomball ISD and statewide results can be seen in the district's STAAR performance.
Across all tested subjects, 90% of Tomball ISD students performed at the Approaches Grade Level standard or higher, compared with 76% statewide. At the Meets Grade Level standard or higher, the district recorded 75% compared with 52% statewide. At Masters Grade Level, Tomball ISD posted 45% compared with 24% statewide.
The district's postsecondary indicators also show strong results. TEA data lists Tomball ISD's College, Career and Military Readiness rate at 94%, compared with 87% statewide.
Its four-year graduation rate was 97.3%, versus 91.2% for the state, while the district's dropout rate was 0.3%, compared with 1.9% statewide.
For parents looking beyond a district's overall letter grade, those figures offer a closer look at how students are performing as they approach graduation and prepare for college, a career or military service.
18 Campuses Earn A Ratings
Tomball ISD reported that 18 of 23 campuses included in its comparison earned individual A ratings, which the district says represents a 20% increase in A-rated campuses since 2019.
TEA's 2025-26 school listings show A ratings at campuses throughout the district, including Canyon Pointe Elementary, Creekside Forest Elementary, Creekside Park Junior High, Creekview Elementary, Grand Lakes Junior High, Grand Oaks Elementary, Lakewood Elementary, Northpointe Intermediate, Oakcrest Intermediate, Timber Creek Elementary, Tomball High School, Tomball Intermediate, Tomball Memorial High School, Tomball Star Academy, West Elementary, Wildwood Elementary, Willow Creek Elementary and Willow Wood Junior High.
The district also highlighted Tomball Intermediate School for reaching an A rating and Decker Prairie Elementary for a five-point increase that brought its score to 89.
At the secondary level, Tomball ISD said Tomball High School and Tomball Memorial High School have now earned straight A ratings across all three accountability domains for three consecutive years, while Tomball Star Academy has maintained straight A ratings across all domains for five consecutive years.
The district further reports that it remains the only A-rated school district spanning both Harris and Montgomery counties, a distinction Tomball ISD has emphasized as part of its 2026 accountability results.
Superintendent Credits Students, Teachers and Families
For Superintendent Dr. Martha Salazar-Zamora, the district's latest report card reflects years of work across classrooms, campuses and homes.
“Earning an A-rating for the seventh consecutive time is a direct reflection of the dedication, resilience, and strategic vision shared across our entire community,” said Dr. Martha Salazar-Zamora, Tomball ISD Superintendent of Schools. “From Tomball Intermediate and Decker Prairie Elementary achieving new growth milestones to our high schools maintaining premier straight-A standards, these results highlight the relentless work of our teachers, students, and campus leaders, along with the unwavering support of our TISD families.”
The Tomball ISD Board of Trustees also plays a role in setting academic expectations and overseeing district finances as Tomball ISD works to provide campuses with staffing, programs and other resources needed to serve a growing student population.
The district's profile lists 1,491.4 full-time teachers and 3,042.1 full-time staff, with an average of 15.6 students per teacher.
Growth Adds Another Layer to the Results
Tomball ISD's A rating arrives as the district continues serving communities across Tomball, Cypress, Magnolia and The Woodlands portions of Harris and Montgomery counties.
For residents, strong school ratings can carry meaning well beyond the classroom. Families often consider school performance when deciding where to live, while homeowners, local businesses and community leaders watch enrollment and academic trends as indicators of how an area is growing and changing.
At the same time, the individual accountability domains show why a single letter grade does not tell the entire story. Tomball ISD posted A-level scores in both Student Achievement and School Progress, while its 89 in Closing the Gaps points to an area the district can continue addressing as it works to improve outcomes across student groups.
That combination — celebrating measurable success while still having room to improve — may be one of the more useful takeaways for families trying to understand the 2026 Tomball ISD accountability ratings beyond the headline.
What Happens Next
The 2026 results give Tomball ISD another benchmark as teachers, students and families begin a new school year.
Future accountability reports will show whether the district can maintain its overall A rating, continue increasing the number of highly rated campuses and make additional progress in areas such as Closing the Gaps.
For now, Tomball ISD's 92 places the district firmly in the A category once again — a result that stretches across elementary classrooms, junior highs, high schools and the thousands of families who call the district home.
