Tomball ISD Celebrates Opening of Tomball Agricultural Center

January 24 2024

The Tomball Independent School District (TISD) recently celebrated the inauguration of the Tomball Agricultural Center, a new landmark facility that underscores the district's ongoing growth and commitment to its community.

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Martha Salazar-Zamora noted the important role of agriculture within the local community. “One of the things I recognized very quickly is that this community values agriculture,” she said. "This is a big part of our community and a big fiber of our history."

According to Dr. Salazar-Zamora, appreciating the past is a crucial aspect of understanding the present and planning for the future. She sees the district's growth as a reflection of this philosophy. “As we grow and as we embrace our growth, I often say ‘you have to remember your past to know where you are in the present to know where you are going in your future’. It is amazing to see where we were and where we are today," she said.

In Dr. Salazar-Zamora's view, the Tomball ISD is more than just a district, it is a destination. And the journey, she insists, does not end here. “It is always ‘what will we do next?’ and so in wanting to ensure that we provide for all."

While the facility proudly bears the name the Tomball Agricultural Center, Dr. Salazar-Zamora emphasizes, it is meant to be so much more than that. "We want this facility to bring fulfillment to all programs and students in Tomball ISD as they have so many interests. Our goal is to meet all their needs."

Dr. Salazar-Zamora proudly inaugurated the center. "It brings me joy as the Superintendent of Schools, with the support from our tremendous School Board and the Tomball community, to call this our center,” she said.

The new Agricultural Center will host a range of programs for all students in the TISD, including the annual FFA Project Show, robotics, fine arts, CTE and campus-based activities. This impressive 45,000-square foot facility is part of the Bond 2021 project and is located at the Tomball Innovation Center.

During the ribbon cutting ceremony, School Board President Mr. John E. McStravick thanked the TISD Administration and Dr. Salazar for their vision and foresight in bringing this project to fruition at the Tomball Innovation Center.

The strong support from the Tomball community was also underscored at the event with representatives from LAN, the project’s General Contractor Millennium Project Solutions and VLK Architects, as well as the TISD Board of Trustees, Leadership Team, and members of the Greater Tomball Area Chamber of Commerce.
