Tomball ISD Announces New Leadership for 2025-2026: McKinney, Scott, and Williams Step Into Key Roles
Tomball ISD has announced three major leadership appointments for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year, positioning the district for continued academic, athletic, and operational excellence. These changes include the return of Dr. Kim McKinney to Tomball High School as its next Principal, Chris Scott stepping into the district-wide role of Director of Athletics, and Kevin Williams taking the helm as the first-ever Principal of Tomball West High School, set to open in August 2026.
Dr. Kim McKinney to Lead Tomball High School
Dr. McKinney, currently the Principal of Grand Lakes Junior High, brings more than 23 years of experience to her new role at Tomball High School, where she previously served as a teacher, Assistant Principal, and Associate Principal from 2005 to 2017. Her deep understanding of the school’s traditions and her demonstrated commitment to fostering collaborative school cultures make her a strong fit to lead the campus into its next chapter.
“Returning to Tomball High School as principal is an incredible full-circle moment for me,” said McKinney. “When I first joined TISD in 2005, I began my journey here, and now I have the opportunity to come home and lead the very school that shaped so much of my early career.”

Dr. McKinney is passionate about supporting high school students in a transformative period of their lives. “Watching students develop confidence, achieve their goals, and step into their futures—whether it be college, career, or service—is what makes leading at the high school level so rewarding,” she said.
She will officially assume her role in August 2025. The district is currently conducting a search for the next leader of Grand Lakes Junior High.

Chris Scott Named Director of Athletics
Chris Scott, a Tomball ISD alumnus and current Principal at Tomball High School, has been named the next Director of Athletics. With 28 years in education—including 17 years in Tomball ISD—Scott brings a wealth of experience and deep community ties to the district-level role.
“As a student-athlete, I competed for Tomball ISD and as a campus administrator supporting our athletes, I've rooted on our teams for many years,” said Scott. “Now I have the opportunity to focus my work directly with our campus coaches, athletes and support staff to lead and support the rich tradition Tomball ISD has in providing a premier athletic experience for our community.”

Looking ahead, Scott is focused on advancing the district’s athletic programs as Tomball ISD prepares to open a third high school in 2026. “I look forward to supporting the great work that has already been done and challenging myself and our District to new successes as we continue to grow our programs and open a new high school in the fall of 2026,” he added.
Kevin Williams to Serve as Inaugural Principal of Tomball West High School
Kevin Williams, current Principal of Willow Wood Junior High, has been tapped to lead Tomball West High School, the district’s third comprehensive high school and 26th campus overall. Williams, who has served in Tomball ISD for 19 years, brings over three decades of experience in education to the position.
“After living here for twenty years, the chance to open a school in Tomball ISD feels incredibly special,” said Williams. “It's not just about building a high school; it's about building a place where kids thrive in everything they do.”

He emphasized the importance of building a culture of achievement and support. “Our overall focus will be on cultivating a culture of high achievement, where rigorous academic standards are consistently supported by a nurturing environment to empower every student to reach their full potential, both inside and outside the classroom,” he said.
Williams will begin his full-time role in Summer 2025 as he prepares for the school's grand opening in August 2026. A search is underway to name the next Principal of Willow Wood Junior High.
Preparing for the Future
With these appointments, Tomball ISD continues to invest in experienced, student-focused leaders to guide its growing district. Each leader brings a unique blend of passion, experience, and vision that aligns with Tomball ISD’s commitment to educational excellence and community values.
