Tidy Up Tomball to Host Spring Clean-Up Event
Spring has arrived, and with it comes the opportunity for Tomball residents to roll up their sleeves and contribute to the beautification of Tomball. Tidy Up Tomball, a community-led initiative, is hosting its second-ever Spring Clean-Up event on May 4, 2024, and is calling on local businesses, schools, organizations, families, and friends to join in the city-wide clean-up.
Last year's inaugural Tidy Up Tomball event was a sweeping success, with 180 volunteers removing an impressive 300 pounds of waste from local streets. This year, the aim is to double our volunteer numbers and make an even greater impact. Visit the Tidy Up Tomball website and sign up now to volunteer for this inspiring community event.
Participating in Tidy Up Tomball is a fulfilling way to contribute to our community. Volunteers not only get to enjoy working together to improve the city's aesthetic appeal, but also get the satisfaction of fulfilling community service hours. As an added bonus, volunteers are treated to complimentary food.
The day begins with a kick-off at 8 am at the Tomball Baptist Church Parking Lot, where teams receive their route assignments, clean-up materials, and information packets before heading out to their assigned areas. After a few hours of concerted clean-up efforts, teams return to base to check-out their supplies and enjoy a well-deserved free lunch.
What should volunteers bring? Remember to dress appropriately for outdoor work—full-length pants, tennis shoes or rubber boots, a hat, and don't forget your sunscreen. Some areas may be grassy or have ditches, so come prepared. To lighten the load, some volunteers may find a wagon helpful for carrying supplies or little ones who might tire out.
Tidy Up Tomball provides all the necessary clean-up tools, but volunteers are welcome to bring their own gloves or picker-uppers if they prefer. Refreshments and meals are provided to keep our volunteers energized and hydrated throughout the event.
