Thirty-Five Comal ISD Student Athletes Sign on to College Dreams, with Davenport High School Shining on Signing Day
On February 4, 2026, college dreams became official for 35 Comal Independent School District student athletes as they signed letters of intent during the third signing day of the school year. Surrounded by family members, coaches, teammates, and classmates, athletes from four of Comal ISD’s comprehensive high schools marked a milestone that reflects years of dedication, sacrifice, and perseverance.
While the celebration stretched across the district, Davenport High School stood out with four Wolves signing to compete at the collegiate level—each representing not only athletic talent, but the work ethic and community support that define the Davenport campus. For students, families, and fans, it was a proud moment that underscored how far these athletes have come and how much lies ahead.
Davenport High School Athletes Take the Next Step
Davenport High School’s signing class showcased both versatility and determination, with student athletes committing across multiple sports and universities. Ashton Mercer signed to play football at Angelo State University, while Hayden Turner will continue his football career at Texas Lutheran University. On the softball field, Kaylie Ramos committed to Evangel University, and Isabel Templeman signed to play soccer at St. Edward’s University.
For the Davenport community, these signings represent more than roster spots—they reflect countless early mornings, long practices, and the steady encouragement of teachers, coaches, and families who helped shape these student athletes along the way. Each commitment is a testament to the culture of growth and opportunity that Davenport High School continues to build.

A District-Wide Celebration of Commitment and Opportunity
Across Comal ISD, signing day highlighted the broad range of athletic opportunities available to students. From football, baseball, basketball, and softball to water polo, diving, golf, tennis, soccer, cross country, wrestling, and volleyball, athletes committed to schools across Texas and the nation.
Notably, several students signed with prestigious military academies, including Joseph Coronado of Canyon High School, who will play football at the United States Coast Guard Academy, and Thor Myklebust of Pieper High School, who signed with the United States Air Force Academy. Their commitments reflect both athletic excellence and a calling to serve.
The day also carried personal meaning for many families. Among those watching proudly was Canyon High School track coach Peter Pardo, whose daughter, Lauren Pardo, signed her letter of intent to run track and cross country at Henderson State University—an example of how deeply rooted athletics are within the Comal ISD community.
Years of Work, One Defining Moment
National Signing Day represents the culmination of years of training, lessons learned through wins and losses, and the balance of academics and athletics. For these 35 Comal ISD student athletes, the moment was both an ending and a beginning—closing one chapter while opening another filled with new challenges and opportunities.
As Davenport High School’s signees and their peers across the district prepare for the next level, their success serves as a reminder of what is possible when talent meets perseverance and community support. Comal ISD, and especially the Davenport community, has much to celebrate.
Congratulations to all of the student athletes who signed letters of intent—your hard work has paid off, and your journeys are just beginning.
