Austin-area residents looking for inspiration for their next home project will have an opportunity to trade browsing online for seeing craftsmanship up close when the Texas Woodworking Festival returns to the Palmer Events Center in September.

The three-day gathering runs September 25–27, 2026, although the main exhibition hall will be open to the public only on Saturday and Sunday. Inside, visitors will find more than 25,000 square feet devoted to woodworking, with furniture makers, lumberyards, tool manufacturers, antique dealers, craftspeople and woodworking organizations gathered under one roof.

Part trade show, part educational event and part celebration of the maker community, the festival offers something for experienced woodworkers as well as homeowners who are simply curious about building, restoring or improving things around the house.

What can visitors see at the Texas Woodworking Festival?

The festival floor will feature woodworking tools, supplies and equipment alongside live demonstrations by makers and industry professionals. Attendees can watch techniques in action, speak directly with furniture builders and craftspeople, and learn about materials or tools they may want to use in future projects.

That makes the event particularly useful for residents considering custom furniture, built-in storage, cabinetry, refinishing work or a new do-it-yourself hobby. Instead of relying solely on photographs or product descriptions, visitors can examine finished pieces, see tools being used and ask questions face-to-face.

Food, drinks and music will add to the weekend atmosphere, giving the festival a more relaxed feel than a traditional industry convention.

Classes and demonstrations offer a closer look at the craft

Education is a major component of the festival. The 2026 program includes approximately two and a half days of classes, lectures, demonstrations, workshops and meetings, with sessions presented in classrooms, an upstairs theater and throughout the exhibition area.

General-admission visitors will be able to watch demonstrations on the show floor. Access to designated live educational seminars and classes requires an education badge or eligible course add-on, and seating in some spaces will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Education-ticket holders also receive two-day exhibition-hall access and online access to recorded sessions after the festival. Because not every presentation will be recorded, attendees interested in a particular technique should review the schedule and ticket requirements before arriving.

Pinewood derby adds an all-ages challenge

One of the weekend’s more playful attractions will be the Another Woodshop Podcast Maker Pinewood Derby, a gravity-powered race open to Texas Woodworking Festival ticket holders of all ages.

Participants must build their own wooden race car and may compete for speed or creativity awards. The creativity category recognizes craftsmanship, originality and design, while the speed competition puts each qualifying car through multiple runs.

Derby participants must check in before 10 a.m. Saturday, September 26, and pay an additional $5 entry fee. Complete construction and competition rules are available through the festival website.

Friday programming is reserved for content creators

Visitors should note that Friday, September 25, is reserved for the festival’s Content Creator Track. The main exhibition hall will be closed that day.

The specialized Friday program focuses on woodworking content creation, social media and business topics. The main exhibition and public educational programming begin Saturday morning.
