Texas State Parks Celebrate Free Entry Day on November 3rd
Texas State Parks will be welcoming visitors with free day-use entry at all its parks on November 3, 2024. This tradition, born from the centennial celebration in 2023, further encourages residents and tourists alike to get outdoors and enjoy all the state's parks have to offer.
"Any day in a Texas State Park is a good day," commented Rodney Franklin, Director of Texas State Parks. He further expressed his hope that, "this continued event from our centennial celebration motivates all Texans to explore what the outdoors has to offer. You are invited to visit a park that is new to you, take a friend, and try a new adventure."

With over 80 parks to choose from, Texas offers a multitude of outdoor day-use activities including wildlife watching, walking, hiking, park programs, camping, biking, swimming, paddleboarding and many more.
But you don't have to travel too far from the Greater Houston Area to experience a Texas State Park. Less than two hours away, Galveston Island State Park, Brazos Bend State Park, Huntsville State Park, Lake Somerville State Park - Birch Creek Unit and Nails Creek Unit, Sheldon Lake State Park & Environmental Learning Center, Stephen F. Austin State Park, and Lake Livingston State Park offer a variety of experiences and adventures.
Texas State Parks has also unveiled the Parkland Passports for veterans ahead of Veterans Day on November 11. These passports are free and grant the cardholders free entry to all Texas State Parks. Franklin thanked the service men and women of the military, stating, "Texas Parks and Wildlife and state parks join everyone in expressing our appreciation to veterans. Thank you for your service and enjoy some fall weather in a Texas State Park!"
Visitors are encouraged to make reservations online as parks will operate as they normally do and will control admissions by their established capacity limits. All other fees will still apply on the free admission day.
