Texas Master Chorale Announces Spring Concerts and Crescendo Gala Celebrating America’s 250th Anniversary

February 05 2026

As the nation looks ahead to celebrating America’s 250th anniversary, Texas Master Chorale is marking the moment with a spring season designed to inspire, reflect, and bring the community together through music. Tickets are now on sale for three major events: the 2026 Crescendo Gala, a landmark performance of Mozart’s Requiem, and the season-closing concert, A More Perfect Union. Each event offers Houston-area audiences a chance to experience choral music while supporting one of the region’s longstanding cultural organizations.

Crescendo Gala Celebrates Community Champions

The season begins with the 2026 Crescendo Gala, titled “A Star-Spangled Evening,” on Friday, February 20, at Shirley Acres in northwest Houston. The annual gala serves as a key fundraiser for Texas Master Chorale and a celebration of the people who have shaped its mission. This year’s event is chaired by Susan Cofran, Jenice Boaz, and Linda Pennell, and will honor Beth and Jim Tucker for their 25 years of dedication to the chorale. Over the years, both have served on the Board of Directors, including terms as President, and have helped expand the organization’s reach throughout the community.

Jim Tucker co-founded the TMC Masterpieces, a quartet that has performed more than 100 concerts in intimate settings such as senior living communities, churches, and local organizations, while Beth Tucker is a founding member of the TMC Guild and an active volunteer with groups including the Centrum Arts League and Reach Unlimited. The Crescendo Gala will feature live performances by The Masterpieces quartet and the Texas Master Chorale Chamber Choir, along with dinner and a silent auction. Tickets are $175, with proceeds directly benefiting Texas Master Chorale’s artistic and educational programming.

Mozart’s Requiem Takes Center Stage in Houston

Music lovers can continue the season on Saturday, March 7, when Texas Master Chorale presents Mozart’s Requiem at 7:30 p.m. at John Wesley Church, located at 5830 Bermuda Dunes Drive in Houston. Often regarded as one of the greatest choral works ever composed, Requiem carries a powerful history. Commissioned by Count Franz von Walsegg and left unfinished at Mozart’s death in 1791, the work was later completed by his student Franz Xaver Sussmayr.

The performance will feature the chorale’s 100-plus member ensemble, four soloists, and full orchestra. Tickets are $30, students are admitted free with a school ID, and complimentary valet parking is available for all concert guests, making the evening both accessible and welcoming for the broader community.

Season Finale Honors America’s 250th Anniversary

The 2025–2026 season concludes on April 25 with “A More Perfect Union,” a patriotic concert honoring the 250th birthday of the United States. The program will spotlight music that reflects the nation’s history, ideals, and shared sense of community, offering a fitting finale to a season rooted in both artistic excellence and civic celebration.
