Terry HS Student Cory Jiles Becomes Lifetime Member of National Society of High School Scholars
National Society of High School Scholars announced senior Cory Jiles has been selected to become a member of the esteemed organization, which recognizes top scholars who have demonstrated outstanding leadership, scholarship, and community commitment. He will be inducted at Texas A&M on Saturday, March 4.
NSHSS connects outstanding young scholars with the resources they need to develop their strengths and pursue their passions. All members are initiated for a lifetime, and will receive support for their growth and development from high school to college to career.
Jiles earned his Eagle Scout Award with Silver Palms as a member of Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church Troop 242, which is the highest honor given by the Boy Scouts of America. During high school, he has been heavily involved and successful in community service, and extracurricular activities including AP courses, athletics, theater, STEM, and oratory competitions.
During the 2022-2023 school year, Jiles was team captain of the football team and selected for 2nd Team Academic All-State. Additionally he received all "A" honor roll and earned Academic All-State Honorable Mention for varsity wrestling. After graduation, Jiles will play football with Texas Lutheran University.
