Taste Lake Travis Brings More Than 45 Food, Drink and Artisan Vendors Together Sept. 26
For people who keep a running list of Lake Travis restaurants, breweries and wineries they have been meaning to try, Saturday offers a way to sample many of them without spending weeks driving around the region. The 4th Annual Taste Lake Travis is scheduled from noon to 4 p.m. Sept. 26 at The Meadow at Emerald Point, 5973 Hiline Road in the Lake Travis area.
Hosted by the Lake Travis Chamber of Commerce, the food and beverage festival is designed to showcase businesses from the Greater Lake Travis and Hill Country area. The event combines tastings with live entertainment, an artisan market and activities, creating an afternoon that is as much about discovering local businesses as it is about eating and drinking.
More Than 45 Businesses and Artisans
The Chamber’s festival information says more than 45 food, beverage and artisan vendors are participating. The announced lineup includes Santa Catarina, Canyon Grille, Café Blue, CraigO’s, Hops & Thyme, Dripping Springs Distilling, Frontyard Brewing, Hoof & Beak, Lakeway Resort, Hotel Viata’s Laurel, Infamous Brewing, 5 Soul Wine Co. and The Lighthouse on the Lake, among others. Vendor participation can change, so anyone attending specifically to visit one business should check the event’s current listing.
Tickets include admission as well as food and drink tastings and festival activities, according to the event organizer. The Eventbrite listing gives the public event hours as noon to 4 p.m. and identifies the venue as 5973 Hiline Road in Austin.
Families Have Something to Do Between Tastings
The festival is also being presented as a family-friendly event rather than an adults-only food and beverage tasting. Organizers say the Little Taste Buds Kids Zone, sponsored by Primrose Schools and KLA Schools, will provide activities for children. Local musicians are also part of the entertainment schedule.
The location is part of the appeal. Emerald Point places the festival directly in the Lake Travis area, giving restaurants, beverage producers, makers and other businesses from surrounding communities a shared place to meet residents and visitors. The event also receives support from the City of Lakeway, according to the festival’s official website.
For small businesses, that concentration can provide exposure beyond their usual customer base. Someone from Lakeway may discover a Hill Country producer they have not visited, while an Austin resident spending the afternoon at the lake can sample restaurants and makers from communities they might otherwise pass on a typical trip through the area.
Because Taste Lake Travis takes place today, Sept. 26, anyone planning to attend should check the official festival or Chamber pages for current ticket availability and last-minute event information before leaving home.
