Support Your Local Library: Donate Books for the Upcoming Cy-Fest Book Sale at LSC-CyFair Library
Are you looking to declutter your home and offload books from your home book collection? The Friends of the Library at Lone Star College-CyFair (LSC-CyFair) Branch Library, part of the Harris County Public Library system, are calling for book donations to be sold at their upcoming book sale. The sale is set to take place on Saturday, Oct. 5 during Cy-Fest at the Lone Star College-CyFair campus, an event filled with fun activities that cater to all age groups.
The LSC-CyFair Branch Friends of the Library is a community of library advocates and alumni who work to promote an interest in the Harris County Public Library. They have played a crucial role in enhancing our understanding of libraries' impact on education, as well as in promoting donations and bequests to bolster library support. Through various initiatives like exhibitions, programs, and publications, they assist the Harris County Public Library in carrying out its educational mission.
This book sale is one of the group's annual events, more than just clearing out your bookshelves, it's a chance to make a difference. This year marks the third Cy-Fest Children's Book Fair, and the Friends of the Library are calling for donations of various types of books. These include picture books, read-aloud books, chapter books, young adult fiction, and graphic novels. Potential donors can drop off their contributions at the main circulation desk at LSC-CyFair Library, located at 9191 Barker Cypress Road.

Every book donated makes an impact, as the proceeds from the sale will entirely go towards supporting programs of the LSC-CyFair Library. Among the many beneficiaries of these funds are LSCS Friends' endowed scholarships, summer reading programs, Student Research Awards, the Study Abroad Photo Contest, and special library programs. The funds also cater for speaker fees and are used to upgrade shelving and other special library projects.
The book fair is a fantastic bargain for readers, with hundreds of kid's books, for the most part, priced between 25 cents to $1.00, up for grabs. Not only does this event support the library and its programs, but it also promotes children's literacy, making it a win-win for everyone involved.
