Streetside Classics to Open 56,000-Square-Foot Collector Car Showroom in Katy
For Houston-area car enthusiasts, a new destination for everything from vintage pickups and American muscle cars to modern exotics is taking shape in Katy.
Streetside Classics announced July 29 that it plans to open a 56,000-square-foot indoor showroom at 500 Commerce Parkway, Katy, TX 77494, during the fourth quarter of 2026. Located just north of the upcoming Texas Heritage Marketplace, the facility will become the company’s seventh showroom nationwide and its second in Texas, joining its Dallas-Fort Worth location.
Company materials describe the future Streetside Classics Houston showroom as having room for roughly 260 vehicles, while another announcement lists its capacity at approximately 300 cars. Either figure would make the Katy facility a sizable addition to the region’s collector car market, with street rods, muscle cars, vintage cars, restomods, classic trucks, SUVs and late-model performance vehicles expected to rotate through the inventory.
Beyond the cars themselves, the opening is expected to create Katy-area jobs and give local car clubs and collectors a climate-controlled gathering place in one of the Houston region’s fastest-growing commercial corridors.
A New Collector Car Hub for Katy and Greater Houston
The Katy showroom is designed to operate as more than a traditional dealership. Visitors will be able to walk through rows of displayed vehicles in a museum-like setting, allowing enthusiasts to browse even when they are not immediately looking to buy.
On-site vehicle lifts will give prospective buyers a chance to inspect the underside of a car — an especially important consideration when evaluating older vehicles for rust, repairs or previous restoration work. Streetside Classics also offers financing, worldwide shipping arrangements and extended vehicle protection plans for eligible purchases.
Its Houston-area inventory is expected to include recognizable favorites such as Ford Mustangs, Chevrolet Camaros and Dodge Chargers, along with vehicles dating from the early 1900s through the latest exotic and performance models.
The company does not currently service or restore classic cars, but it does facilitate purchases, trades and consignments. Eligible vehicles may also include a one-month or 250-mile limited warranty, according to company information.
Streetside Classics Built Its Business Around Consignment
Bob and Donna Mueller opened the first Streetside Classics showroom in Charlotte, North Carolina, in 2008. The company expanded to Atlanta in 2010, Dallas-Fort Worth in 2012, Tampa and Nashville in 2015, and Phoenix in 2017.
The Katy location will mark its first new market since the Phoenix expansion and give Streetside Classics a direct presence in the Houston metro area.
The business specializes in the consignment, purchase and sale of classic and collectible vehicles. Streetside Classics reports maintaining more than 1,600 vehicles for sale across its existing locations and selling roughly 3,000 vehicles annually, representing about $100 million in yearly sales.
Unlike an auction, the company lists vehicles at set asking prices without competitive bidding. Buyers can take time to examine a vehicle, arrange an independent inspection and review available history reports before making a decision.
For sellers, Streetside Classics offers a no-cost consignment model. Its staff handles photography, marketing, pricing guidance, buyer communication and negotiations while the vehicle remains secured inside the showroom. The company also purchases certain high-quality classic vehicles outright and accepts qualifying classic and late-model trade-ins.
Company Hopes to Welcome Houston’s Car Community
The new showroom could give Katy and West Houston car clubs a year-round venue for gatherings, shows and informal visits, particularly during periods of extreme heat or unpredictable weather.
“When we started Streetside, we committed to a customer-first philosophy in an industry that desperately needed it,” said Donna Mueller, co-founder and chairwoman of Streetside Classics. “We’re excited to expand to a seventh location in a vibrant and fast-growing market like Houston. We hope to be a hub for the growing enthusiast community by hosting car shows, welcoming car clubs, and always being a place where you can come see that car your dad had.”
For many collectors, those cars are tied to family memories, first drives, long afternoons spent together in the garage, or the vehicle a parent once drove. Even residents who are not shopping may find the Katy showroom an interesting place to revisit familiar models and introduce younger family members to automotive history.
Streetside Classics says its showrooms operate with a low-pressure sales approach and employees who do not receive incentives to favor one vehicle over another. The company has received DealerRater Consumer Satisfaction Awards and reports earning more than 3,000 five-star Google reviews across its locations.
What Happens Next
Streetside Classics has begun accepting consignments ahead of the Katy showroom’s planned opening. A firm opening date has not yet been announced beyond the company’s fourth-quarter 2026 timeline.
Once open, the facility is expected to offer full sales and consignment services, vehicle financing assistance, shipping coordination, trade-in evaluations and space for future car shows and club gatherings.
For Katy residents, the project adds another specialized business to the Commerce Parkway area. For Greater Houston’s classic car community, it promises something more personal: a place to inspect, buy, sell and simply spend time around vehicles that often come with decades of history.
