As temperatures continue to climb, families and individuals can beat the heat at their local library all summer long. During the month of July, Lone Star College - Tomball Community Library has an exciting lineup of fun, free activities and events planned for the whole family. Summer Reading Program

HCPL’s Summer Reading Program is officially here! The theme for this year is “All Together Now!” Join us from June 5th - August 5th to log your reading minutes on the Beanstack app and earn free prizes for everyone! Pokémon League - Saturday, July 1 & 15 from 1:30-3:30 PM 

Love playing the Pokémon card game and discussing all things Pokémon with fellow fans? Join the Pokémon League every first and third Saturday, sponsored by the Magnolia City Pokémon Gym. Crocodile Encounter - Monday, July 10 @ 3:00 PM 

Learn more about your favorite reptiles with our friends from Crocodile Encounter! During this show, they will show different kinds of live reptiles (from crocodiles and alligators, to snakes, turtles, and more) and share fun facts about each of them!

Wiggle and Learn: Movement Story Time - Tuesday, July 11 @ 3:00 PM 

Do you think reading is a “staying still” activity? It doesn’t have to be! While it’s nice to have some time to be still, it’s also fun to move around while we learn about letter shapes and sounds. Join us as we read a story together and work out our minds and bodies at the same time. We’ll move to the beat, learn some new words, and wiggle until we drop! Little Learners - Thursday, July 13 @ 3:00 PM 

Have fun experimenting and expanding your knowledge at Little Learners! During this program, kids and their parents/caregivers will complete a series of fun STEM, art and literacy activities. Orbit the Astros Mascot - Monday, July 17 @ 3:00 PM 

Let's Go, Astros! Everyone's favorite fuzzy green alien mascot is coming to the library! Get in the game of reading with an upbeat program on literacy, libraries and more. There will be books, silly dancing, and jokes, all featuring Orbit! Don't forget to wear all your Astros gear! This program is for all ages. Tile Art - Tuesday, July 18 @ 3:00 PM

Fishing Foundation - Thursday, July 20 @ 3:00 PM 

Join us for Fishing Foundation and learn more about fresh water fishing in Texas! Kids will learn the basics of fresh water fishing in Texas, then complete a series of related crafts and activities! Mad Science: Up, Up & Away! - Monday, July 24 @ 3:00 PM 

You won't want to miss this interactive show filled with tons of fun science experiments. Explore the properties of air and air pressure! Dueling bathroom plungers and the Magdeburg Hemisphere reveal the awesome power of air pressure. This program is for all ages. Reading Education Assistance Dogs - Tuesday, July 25 @ 5:00 PM 

The Reading Education Assistance Dogs will be here! Pick a book and share it one on one with a furry friend from Pets with a Mission! This program is for kids ages 4-12 and their parents. Soldiers Supplies Donations - All month long

We will be collecting donations all month long to be sent to Boots for Troops, a local non-profit that mails care packages to troops deployed across the globe. Items needed for donation include dry snacks, toiletries, books, candy, ground coffee, letters of encouragement, etc. Donations can be dropped off at the library’s 1st floor elevators in the donation box. Ancient Weaving Presentation - Saturday, July 15 from 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM 

The story of fiber starts with sheep, women, and the spindle. Explore the world of making early garments using a drop or supported hand spindle and the portable looms of Bedouin women. Using Land Records for Genealogy - Wednesday, July 26 from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Land records are some of the most underutilized, yet most useful records available in genealogy. Often, they are the only records which state direct relationships or can be usen to prove relationships indirectly by use of the law at the time. Guest speaker Carl Smith will detail what can be found in these types of materials and best practices to find access to them. This program will take place in the Innovation Lab.
