Families across Northwest Houston will soon have the chance to step into the whimsical world of Dr. Seuss as Stageworks Theatre prepares to present Seussical the Musical this summer.

The community theater recently announced the cast for the highly anticipated production, which will run July 24 through Aug. 16, 2026, at the Garza Mainstage, located at 10760 Grant Road in Houston. The production features a blend of adult performers, teens and young actors, highlighting the intergenerational spirit that has become a hallmark of Stageworks Theatre productions.

For local families, the show represents more than just another theater performance. It showcases the talent of community members from across the Greater Houston area while introducing a new generation of audiences to timeless lessons about friendship, loyalty, acceptance and believing in the impossible.

A Beloved Musical Inspired by the World of Dr. Seuss

Created by the award-winning team of Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, Seussical the Musical combines some of Dr. Seuss’ most recognizable characters into a single story filled with humor, heart and memorable songs.

The musical follows Horton the Elephant, who discovers a tiny speck of dust containing the Whos, including a young dreamer named JoJo. At the same time, Horton finds himself entrusted with protecting an abandoned egg left behind by the carefree Mayzie La Bird.

As Horton faces skepticism, danger and ridicule, the story explores themes that continue to resonate with audiences of all ages: standing up for what is right, valuing every voice and remaining loyal to friends and family even when challenges arise.

The show's well-known message, "A person's a person, no matter how small," has made Seussical a favorite among schools, community theaters and family audiences since its debut.
