St. Cuthbert School Opens Enrollment for 2025-2026: A Loving Start for Young Learners Near Cypress

February 17 2025

For 40 years, St. Cuthbert School has been more than just a preschool—it has been a home away from home for young children in the Cy-Fair and Cypress areas. Located at 17020 West Road between the Copperfield area and the growing Cypress community, this faith-based early childhood program is dedicated to nurturing children in a warm, Christ-centered environment where they can learn, grow, and build a foundation for lifelong success. Now, registration for the 2025-2026 school year is officially open, offering families an opportunity to be part of a longstanding tradition of excellence in early childhood education.

Established in 1984 as an outreach ministry of St. Cuthbert Episcopal Church, the school remains steadfast in its mission to provide a developmentally appropriate Christian curriculum for children ages 18 months through Bridge. Accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the school prioritizes high-quality early learning that supports the cognitive, social, and spiritual development of young learners.

“We are honored to have served this community for four decades, and we remain committed to ensuring every child who walks through our doors receives a nurturing, faith-based education,” says Melinda Wahl, Director of St. Cuthbert School.

Each day at St. Cuthbert is thoughtfully structured to encourage engagement, curiosity, and socialization. From chapel time to creative play, children participate in activities that foster a love for learning and help build positive self-esteem. Events such as the annual Bike-A-Thon, Pumpkin Patch & Parade, Western Day, Donuts with Dad, and Thanksgiving Feast bring families together, while caroling at a local senior assisted living facility teaches the value of community outreach. Seasonal performances and church-sponsored celebrations like the International Festival further enrich the school experience at St. Cuthbert School.

“Our programs are designed to nurture the whole child—mind, body, and spirit—through meaningful activities that promote both learning and faith,” Wahl explains.

One of the school’s greatest strengths is its dedicated teaching staff, who undergo rigorous training and continuing education in early childhood education. Teachers are CPR and First Aid certified, have undergone extensive background checks, and are required to complete ongoing professional development each year. This ensures that every classroom is led by passionate educators who prioritize each child’s unique potential.

“We believe that quality education begins with quality teachers, and we are proud of our team’s dedication to fostering a love for learning in our students,” says Wahl.

For families considering enrollment, tuition varies based on attendance, with flexible options ranging from two to five days per week. Monthly tuition rates range from $295 to $535, and a supply fee is required before the school year begins. An optional Stay and Play program extends the day until 4:00 PM for a nominal, additional daily fee. The school welcomes prospective families to visit for a tour between 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM, Monday through Friday, to experience the nurturing atmosphere firsthand.

"I cannot speak highly enough about this school, their teachers and the administration."

I have had a kid there for the past 9 years and will be sad when my last one graduates this year.  Even moving further away couldn’t sway me to another school.  My kids were more than prepared for kindergarten.”

“Our doors are open, and we welcome new families to come see the joy, the learning, and the love that fills our classrooms every single day,” Wahl says. “This isn’t just a school—it’s a family.”

With a legacy built on faith, learning, and love, St. Cuthbert School continues to shape young hearts and minds. For families interested in joining the St. Cuthbert community for the 2025-2026 school year, contact Melinda Wahl at 281-463-1912 or melinda@stcuthbertschool.org.
