As students across the Greater Houston region head into Spring Break, Harris County Precinct 3 is encouraging families to step outside and explore the parks, preserves, and nature centers that make the area special. From scavenger hunts and guided nature hikes to a family campout and outdoor movie night, the precinct is offering a variety of activities designed to bring residents together while highlighting the natural spaces that serve as gathering places across the community.

Hosted at several well-known Harris County Precinct 3 parks, the Spring Break 2026 events provide families with opportunities to stay active, connect with nature, and spend meaningful time together during the school holiday. The events also reflect the precinct’s broader mission of making public parks accessible destinations for education, recreation, and community engagement.

Precinct 3 Commissioner Tom S. Ramsey’s office oversees hundreds of miles of trails, parks, and green spaces across northern Harris County, many of which will host Spring Break programs this year.

A Week of Spring Break Activities Across Harris County Precinct 3 Parks

The Spring Break celebration includes a range of activities scheduled between March 10 and March 20, along with a daily scavenger hunt that continues through March 23.

Spring Break Scavenger Hunt

Now through March 23, 2026 | 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. daily
Mercer Arboretum & Botanic Gardens — 22306 Aldine Westfield Rd, Humble, TX 77338

Visitors can explore Mercer Arboretum & Botanic Gardens through a self-guided scavenger hunt that encourages families to discover plant species, wildlife habitats, and hidden corners of the popular nature destination.

Nature Hike

March 10, 2026 | 9 – 10:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Burroughs Park — 9738 Hufsmith Rd, Tomball, TX 77375

Participants can join park staff for a guided hike through the scenic trails at Burroughs Park, offering an up-close look at local ecosystems and wildlife commonly found in the region’s forests and wetlands.

Movie Night: “How to Train Your Dragon” (Live Action)

March 13, 2026 | Begins at 6 p.m.
Juergen’s Hall Community Center — 26026 Hempstead Rd, Cypress, TX 77429

Families can enjoy a community movie night featuring the live-action version of How to Train Your Dragon. The event offers a relaxed evening gathering for residents of all ages.

Family Campout

March 13 at 5 p.m. – March 15 at 12 p.m.
Kickerillo-Mischer Preserve — 20215 Chasewood Park Dr, Houston, TX 77070

The overnight campout experience invites families to enjoy nature after dark with camping activities, outdoor recreation, and time together in one of Precinct 3’s most popular preserves.

“Spring Break Out”

March 17–20, 2026 | Begins at 9 a.m.
Jesse H. Jones Park & Nature Center — 20634 Kenswick Dr, Humble, TX 77338

This multi-day program offers nature-focused activities for children and families, helping participants learn about wildlife, conservation, and outdoor exploration.

Pond Studies

March 17, 2026 | Begins at 10 a.m.
Atascocita Park — 17302 W Lake Houston Pkwy, Atascocita, TX 77346

Visitors can learn about aquatic ecosystems and the wildlife that depend on local ponds and waterways through hands-on educational activities.

Woodworking for Nature: Walking Sticks

March 18, 2026 | Begins at 12 p.m.
Collins Park — 6727 Cypresswood Dr, Spring, TX 77379

This nature-inspired workshop invites participants to craft walking sticks while learning how natural materials can be used responsibly in outdoor recreation.

Connecting Families With Local Parks and Nature

Programs like these reflect Harris County Precinct 3’s ongoing efforts to make local parks more than just green spaces. By hosting seasonal events and educational activities, the precinct encourages families to see these areas as places to learn, explore, and build lasting community traditions.

With activities taking place in Humble, Tomball, Cypress, Spring, Atascocita, and surrounding areas, families across northern Harris County have multiple opportunities to take part in the Spring Break celebration.
