Six Fort Bend County Teens Announced as 2025 Fair Queen Candidates: Scholarship Contest Now Underway
A new group of Fort Bend County students has stepped into the spotlight as the Fort Bend County Fair Association announced the official candidates for the 2025 Fort Bend County Fair Queen Scholarship Contest. The decades-long tradition—part pageantry, part service, and fully community-centered—will culminate in the coronation of one outstanding young woman as the next Fair Queen on Friday, September 26, 2025, during the Fair’s opening weekend.
This year’s candidates, who represent high schools from throughout Fort Bend County, are:
- Aylla Goins, Lamar Consolidated High School
- Gianna Jarlowe, Clements High School
- Aubrey Ostertag, Fulshear High School
- Leighton Lara, Foster High School
- Kendall Duff, Fulshear High School
- Kaydence Miller, Travis High School
The newly announced Fair Queen candidates recently gathered at the Fort Bend County Fairgrounds for a welcome meeting and orientation. During this kickoff event, they met with members of the Queen Scholarship Committee, reviewed contest expectations, and participated in official photo sessions. In attendance to welcome the contestants was 2024 Fort Bend County Fair Queen Saige Sowa, who offered reflections on her own year of service and what the role has meant to her.

Sowa, who was crowned last fall as a junior from Austin High School in Fort Bend ISD, has served as a dedicated ambassador for the Fair. Over the past year, she’s appeared at major events including RodeoHouston, the Fort Bend County Fair’s Summer Night Gala, and numerous community engagements across the county. Her presence at the orientation underscored the meaningful legacy of the Fair Queen title.
“The Fair Queen is more than just a title—it’s a platform for service, leadership, and representing our community in a very public and positive way,” said a spokesperson for the Fair Association.
A Tradition Rooted in Service and Scholarships
The Fort Bend County Fair Queen Scholarship Contest is one of the most cherished traditions of the Fair, which has been a staple of the community since its founding in 1933. While the crown symbolizes grace and poise, the heart of the program lies in youth development and educational opportunity.
Each candidate competes for both the title and access to scholarship funding. Winners are selected based on interviews, community involvement, public speaking, and overall presentation. Once crowned, the Fair Queen commits to a full year of appearances and ambassadorial duties.
These include:
- Attending the Fair’s BBQ Cookoff and 10-day Fair run
- Participating in livestock shows, auctions, and receptions
- Representing the Fair at community functions, luncheons, and holiday events across Fort Bend County
Over the years, past Queens have gone on to excel in academics, agriculture, the arts, and public service—many remaining actively involved in the Fort Bend County Fair Association and its programs.

A Spotlight on Community and Leadership
The 2025 Queen will join a prestigious list of past titleholders who have exemplified the Fair’s mission: promoting agriculture, education, and community engagement. Last year’s contest featured 13 candidates and concluded with the crowning of Saige Katherine Sowa, who also previously served as the 2022 Fort Bend County Fair Jr. Queen.
With strong community support and the continued dedication of volunteers, the Fort Bend County Fair Queen Scholarship Contest stands as a symbol of leadership development for young women across the region.
