Shakespeare in the Shade Presents Henry V
August 16 2022
Join Harris County Precinct 4 for live Shakespeare theater performances of Henry V on Friday, Sept. 16, at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 17, at 2 and 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, Sept. 18, at 2 p.m. at the War Memorial Pavilion in Bear Creek Park, 3535 War Memorial St., Houston.
Those who cannot attend the Sept. 16–18 dates can instead take in a performance of Henry V on Friday, Sept. 23, at 7:30 p.m. at the Tracy Gee Community Center, or Friday, Sept. 30, at 7:30 p.m. at the Richard and Meg Weekley Community Center.
Containing the famous St. Crispin’s Day speech, Henry V is not to be missed! After an insult from the French Dauphin, King Henry V of England invades France to claim the throne he believes should be his. Henry stops an assassination plot, gives powerful speeches, and wins battles against the odds. In the end, he woos and marries the Princess of France, linking the two nations.
“My team works hard to make Shakespeare relatable and accessible to the public,” said Commissioner R. Jack Cagle. “Those who struggled with Shakespeare’s work in the past walk away with new understanding after seeing one of our productions.”
Established in 2013, Precinct 4’s Shakespeare in the Shade presentations are part of Commissioner Cagle’s educational and recreational commitment to Harris County residents.
