Serving Up Something New: The Colonies Neighborhood Center Tennis Court Renovations Underway
The community tennis courts at The Colonies Neighborhood Center are getting a fresh upgrade just in time for the most inviting weather season. Harris County MUD 102 has officially kicked off renovations to enhance the popular amenity, located at 15003 Yorktown Colony Dr, Houston, TX 77084, by transforming it into a more versatile and user-friendly space for residents.
In partnership with Classic Sports Houston, the project began in early November and includes a series of improvements designed to benefit both casual players and seasoned athletes alike. The once traditional tennis-only courts will soon become multi-use tennis-pickleball courts—an increasingly popular trend in recreational sports. Pickleball, known for its fast-paced yet beginner-friendly gameplay, has surged in popularity across the country, drawing new and diverse participants to local courts.
In addition to resurfacing for dual-use play, the renovation will include a brand-new practice wall, perfect for solo sessions or skill-building drills. To round out the upgrades, all perimeter fencing will be replaced with a sleek and durable black vinyl-coated finish, improving both aesthetics and safety.
Park hours will remain unchanged during the renovation, continuing to offer convenient access seven days a week from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Residents interested in using the courts are reminded that access is secure and requires a key. To register for an access key, simply email CNC@HCMUD102.ORG to schedule an appointment.

This latest project builds on a wave of enthusiasm for outdoor recreation across the community. In a recent article published by My Neighborhood News, Game, Set, Match: Fall Is the Perfect Season to Hit the Courts at The Colonies Neighborhood Center, residents were reminded of the many physical and social benefits the courts offer—from cardiovascular health to mental sharpness to simply connecting with neighbors through a shared hobby.
The upgrades are a reflection of the district’s ongoing commitment to investing in quality-of-life amenities for residents across Harris County MUD 102, which includes neighborhoods such as The Colonies and Concord Bridge. By adding pickleball to the mix and refreshing the overall court experience, the district hopes to invite even more participation from across generations and skill levels.
Whether you’re dusting off your tennis racket or curious to try pickleball for the first time, the updated courts promise to serve up new opportunities for connection, exercise, and outdoor fun.
