Scholars and Scoundrels Opens Relocated Katy Restaurant

May 09 2024

Scholars and Scoundrels, the locally and veteran-owned restaurant celebrated for its kid-friendly ambiance and industry service prices, has recently opened a new location at 25140 Kingsland Blvd, Suite 1000, Katy, 77494, on the south side of Katy Mills. This marks a significant shift for the beloved eatery, as it replaces their former flagship location on Pin Oak in Katy.

Owners Chad Craig and Tony Petronella, who initially gained success with steak nights around town before launching a food truck and finally settling on a brick-and-mortar location back in December 2018, closed the doors to their flagship Pin Oak outlet in late July 2023. The finale was marked by a memorable Season Finale Party with loyal patrons.

In a public announcement made on July 1, 2023, the owners cited their inability to reach an extension agreement with their landlord as the main reason for the closure. Despite the setback, the duo remained undeterred, reaffirming their commitment to offering fine dining food in a casual dining environment at their new Katy location.

Scholars and Scoundrels has enjoyed considerable success, bagging several accolades including "Best Restaurant In Katy" by the Katy Times and "Best Restaurant Worth The Drive" by the Houston Chronicle in 2019, and a 1st place win at the Wildcatter Chili Cook-Off.

In addition to the new Katy location, Scholars and Scoundrels also operates in Elyson (established in 2023) and Sugar Land (established in 2020). Scholars and Scoundrels aims to offer patrons the same blend of comfortable atmosphere, craft cocktails, craft draft beers, and top-tier food that the restaurant has become known for across all of its locations, including the new Katy restaurant.
