San Antonio Food Bank Turkey Trot 2026 Returns Thanksgiving Morning, Bringing Families Together to Fight Hunger
For thousands of San Antonio families, Thanksgiving morning begins with running shoes, a little fresh air and a shared commitment to helping others. That tradition continues Thursday, November 26, 2026, as the San Antonio Food Bank hosts its 17th Annual Turkey Trot 5K Run & Walk, bringing the community together for a holiday event that supports local families experiencing food insecurity.
Held at the historic Commander’s House at H-E-B Arsenal in downtown San Antonio, the annual Thanksgiving 5K welcomes experienced runners, casual walkers, children and families looking for a way to give back before gathering around their own holiday tables.
The event carries a particularly meaningful purpose. According to the San Antonio Food Bank, every race registration helps provide a turkey for a family facing hunger, turning a Thanksgiving morning tradition into an opportunity to make the holiday brighter for neighbors across Southwest Texas.
A Thanksgiving Tradition That Helps Feed San Antonio Families
For 17 years, the San Antonio Food Bank Turkey Trot has offered residents a way to begin Thanksgiving with exercise, community connection and generosity.
Participants will follow a scenic route through downtown San Antonio, joining thousands of others who share a common goal of supporting the fight against hunger.
The event benefits the San Antonio Food Bank, a nonprofit organization that works year-round to address food insecurity throughout Southwest Texas. The organization distributes millions of pounds of food through a network of more than 500 partner organizations while providing programs designed to help individuals and families achieve greater long-term food security.
Although the holidays often bring attention to charitable giving, the need for food assistance extends well beyond Thanksgiving. The Food Bank's work helps families, seniors and individuals who may be struggling to afford groceries and other basic necessities.
The Turkey Trot offers a simple way for residents to contribute to that mission while enjoying time with family and friends.

More Ways to Support the San Antonio Food Bank This Thanksgiving
Residents do not have to participate in the 5K to support the San Antonio Food Bank's Thanksgiving efforts.
The organization is also encouraging community members, businesses, schools and groups of friends to organize virtual fund drives. These fundraising efforts allow participants to collect donations that support the Food Bank's mission of providing nutritious meals to individuals and families across Southwest Texas.
Volunteer opportunities are another important part of the event. The Food Bank relies on volunteers to help make the annual Turkey Trot possible, and additional volunteer registration information is expected to be posted on the event website.
Local businesses and community organizations also help support the event through sponsorships and in-kind contributions. Among the organizations recognized for supporting the 2026 Turkey Trot are University Health, Frost Bank, Silver Eagle Beverages, Security Service Federal Credit Union, SA Flavor, Amarillo National Bank, Americrane Rentals and several others.
Parking partners include Bexar County, H-E-B, Opportunity Home San Antonio and the University of Texas at San Antonio. Soler's Sports is providing race management services.
