Rotary Club of Katy Scholarship Application Deadline Fast Approaching

The Rotary Club of Katy is awarding $100,000 in scholarships ranging between $2,500 to $10,000. The scholarship is to be used for post-secondary education expenses, i.e., tuition, books, housing.

Each interested candidate must complete the online application, including essays, and submit a copy of their transcript by January 31, 2023. No applications will be accepted after the deadline. 

In order for your application to be considered, you must also submit two personally written essays with this application, one on Financial Need, the other on Service.  The scholarship committee is doing a blind review, meaning you should not include or make any reference to your high school within your essays.  

The purpose of the essays are to share with the selection committee more information about yourself and why you believe that you deserve to be selected over the other candidates.  Take time to carefully read through all of the information listed below before you begin your writing.  When you are ready to submit, you will need to upload your final essays in the designated fields below. 

What is Rotary?

Rotary is an organization of business and professional leaders united worldwide to provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, in addition to building goodwill and peace throughout the world. Rotary International is the largest organization in the world with are over 35,000 clubs located in over 160 countries worldwide with approximately 1.2 million Rotarians.  

Financial Need Essay (Required)

Rotary Club of Katy Scholarship is primarily based on student financial need for post-secondary education. In 250 words or less, share with the committee your need for financial assistance. Please explain how this scholarship will impact your opportunity to pursue your post-secondary education.

Service Essay (Required)

Rotary’s motto is “Service Above Self”. In 250 words or less, share with the committee your view on service. Information may include:

  • the impact of service to your community,
  • how you have served your community, and/or
  • how the community has provided service to you/family.

The Scholarship Committee will review all candidate applications. Selected applicants will be contacted for an interview.

Funding for Scholarships is provided by The Katy Rotary Fund, a 501(c)3 charity focused on education and providing scholarships for students from Katy ISD high schools.   The primary fund raiser for The Katy Rotary Fund is the Katy Triathlon, with 100% of proceeds going to scholarships.  The Katy Rotary Fund is pleased to see the return of this fundraiser in 2021, following cancelation due to Covid19 in 2020.  Additional funding for scholarships also comes from Rotary Club of Katy fundraisers like The Katy Rice Festival and The Wild West Brewfest.
