Registration Now Open for Third Annual Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk in Cypress
This fall, the Cypress community will once again lace up their sneakers in support of the Tunnel to Towers Foundation with the third annual Tunnel to Towers 5k Run & Walk - Cypress / NW Houston. The race will take place on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at the John Paul Landing Park Environmental Education Center. An Opening Ceremony will kick off the event at 7:30 AM, with the race officially beginning at 8:00 AM.
Born out of the tragedy of 9/11, the Tunnel to Towers Foundation carries forward a legacy of courage and heroism, under the mantra “While we have time, LET US DO GOOD”. The foundation seeks to support catastrophically injured first responders, military heroes, and the families of our nation's fallen heroes by constructing mortgage-free smart homes tailored to the specific needs of severely injured veterans and first responders.
The Cypress event is one of over 80 walk, run and climb events held nationwide each year, which help raise critical funds for Tunnel to Towers' initiatives.
Last year, around 400 participants took part in the race, contributing to a nationwide network of support. This year, the Foundation is hoping for even greater participation, with a fundraising goal of $50,000. In the past, the event has seen participation from individuals and teams alike. Last year, "Team Howell & Friends", "Cy-Fair Professional Firefighters Association Local 5248", and "T2T CTX - Never Forget!" were among the top teams to rally for the cause.
Registration categories are available for adults, first responders, military personnel, youth (13-17 years) and children (12 and under), making it a family-friendly event. Every dollar raised goes towards the noble cause of supporting those who risk their lives for our safety and freedom.
So, don your running gear and sign up to support this significant cause. Every step you take is a move towards ensuring that the heroes of our nation are never forgotten. Register today at runsignup.com. To learn more about Tunnel to Towers, visit t2t.org.
