Rakkan Ramen Opens Third Houston Location With More to Come in 2023

June 15 2023

With two locations in the greater Houston area, RAKKAN Ramen is thrilled to open their third and newest location in the Katy area at 1321 N. Westgreen Blvd. Franchisee Chris Lav opened the first RAKKAN Ramen in Houston in 2021 and plans to open two additional concepts before the end of the year. The fast casual restaurant offers a new take on the traditional ramen dish with additional menu items and vegan options. The new Katy location will host  a soft opening starting Friday, June 16th and the Grand Opening Celebration set for Saturday, June 24th with the first 100 guests receiving complimentary bowls of ramen (50 at lunch and 50 at dinner).

“We are excited to continue expanding the RAKKAN Ramen brand in the greater Houston area,” said Lav. “We look forward to being a part of the Katy community and continue to grow this year with more locations coming.”

RAKKAN Ramen differentiates itself from other ramen restaurants in the fact that their broth is 100% plant-based. This allows RAKKAN’s ramen to have a wide range of food choices for everyone from vegan to meat loving patrons. The ramen is made with RAKKAN original noodles, which are made with whole wheat and are 100% vegan. In addition, RAKKAN provides two other alternative noodles: the original vegetable noodles, which are made of kale, and gluten-free noodles. There are 5 ramen bases available: AMBER (soy sauce base), PEARL (salt base), GARNET (miso base), SPICY GARNET (spicy miso base), and QUARTZ (creamy base). Bowls come with grilled pork, seasoned egg, and bamboo shoots as toppings or the vegan ramen is topped with shiitake mushrooms, tofu, and corn.

Outside of ramen, the menu also provides appetizers and side dishes including traditional Japanese dishes such as takoyaki (octopus balls) and gyozas (deep fried dumplings) or more innovative items such as crowd favorite RAKKAN buns available with pork, chicken, or vegan fillings.

CEO and founder, Ryohei Ito opened the first RAKKAN Ramen in his hometown of Tokyo, Japan in 2011. After success in Japan, he decided to come test his skills in the US, choosing Los Angeles as his first outpost because of the large Japanese population. In 2017 he opened his first RAKKAN Ramen restaurant in LA and since then RAKKAN Ramen has expanded into numerous states in the US.

Rakkan Ramen will be open Sunday–Thursday 11:00am – 10:00pm and Friday–Saturday 11:00am – 11:00pm. For more information visit www.rakkanramen.com.
