Prevention Starts With You: CFISD Take Back Day Set for October 25 in Support of Suicide Prevention Awareness
A small action can make a big difference—especially when it comes to safeguarding our neighborhoods. On Saturday, October 25, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., the CFISD Mental Health Intervention Team and CFISD Police Department will host a DEA National Prescription Drug Take Back Day event at the CFISD Police Department, located at 11200 Telge Rd, Cypress, TX 77429.
This event invites residents in Towne Lake and across the community to safely dispose of unused or expired prescription medications—no questions asked. Participants can simply drive up and drop off items from their vehicles at the designated collection site.
Why Take Back Day Matters—Especially Now
October’s Take Back Day aligns with Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, highlighting the importance of reducing access to potentially harmful substances. Improperly stored prescription drugs can pose a serious risk, especially to young people, and can contribute to overdose, accidental poisoning, or self-harm.
By participating, residents are not only protecting their homes—they’re actively supporting a safer, healthier community.

Make Participation Easy: Rally Your Neighborhood
Getting involved doesn’t have to be complicated. In fact, your block or street can work together to make it even easier:
- Designate a secure, manned drop-off spot—such as a neighbor’s front porch (only if attended), the community park pavilion, or clubhouse—and set a specific date and time for neighbors to drop off their medications. Make sure someone is present to monitor the collection and keep items safe until they can be transported to the official CFISD drop-off site.
- Nominate one person to bring all collected items to the Telge Road location on October 25.
Of course, residents are always welcome to bring their medications directly to the collection site during the event hours.
What to Bring (and Not Bring)
- Accepted: Pills and patches
- Not accepted: Liquids, needles, or sharps
All drop-offs are anonymous, and no identification is required.

About DEA National Take Back Day
Launched in 2010 by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, Take Back Day is a national effort to prevent drug misuse and environmental contamination. To date, nearly 18 million pounds of prescription drugs have been collected through the program. The initiative partners with local agencies to provide safe, accessible ways for people to dispose of medications responsibly.
