Precinct 4 will be hosting Bluegrass Rising, an Independence Day Concert, and more this summer. Mark your calendars for these (mostly) free, family-friendly events!
 
Bayland’s Patriotic Luncheon @ Bayland Community Center
Thursday, June 30, from 12:00 - 3:00 p.m.
We will be offering a catered luncheon to honor our country’s birth. Cost of the meal will be $10 per person for senior adults over the age of 50. Please make checks payable to “All4Fun.” Attendance will be limited to 100 guests. MD Anderson: “How to Spot Skin Cancer” @ Jim & JoAnn Fonteno Senior Education Center

Skin cancer is the most common cancer in the United States. Being aware of how your skin looks and knowing how to spot changes is a great defense against skin cancer and melanoma. Our expert will provide the information you need to spot skin cancer and get treatment. Limited number of participants. Bluegrass Rising Concert @ Weekley Community Center
Friday, June 10, at 4:00 p.m.
The concert includes three bands over the course of the evening. Bluegrass music is a genre of American roots music that developed in the 1940s in the Appalachian region. The genre derives its name from the band “Bill Monroe and the Blue Grass Boys.” Unlike mainstream country music, bluegrass is traditionally played on acoustic stringed instruments. Bluegrass stems from traditional African American blues and jazz and has roots in traditional English, Scottish, and Irish ballads and dance tunes. Express Children’s Theatre Presents Bilingual Show @ Hockley Community Center
Monday, June 13, from 1:30-2:15 p.m.
Join the Aztec Princess as she tells two classic Mexican fables about making good choices, while teaching English and Spanish vocabulary along the way. Fun for all ages and sparkling with educational values and social/emotional skills. Written by Epig Dominguez and performed by Cynthia Leal. Children’s Sewing Class @ Steve Radack Community Center
Monday through Friday, June 13-17, at 10:00 a.m. daily.
Children 8 and older are invited to learn the basics of sewing during a five-day class, with a new project each day. Independence Day Concert @ Thomas A. Glazier Senior Education Center

Welcome Dickie back to Glazier. Dickie is an accomplished entertainer, multi-talented vocalist, and an unforgettable front man. He has performed in Las Vegas for more than 20 years at resorts including Harrah’s, MGM Grand, Luxor, and more. He sings Elvis, Frank Sinatra, Bobby Darin, Dean Martin, Neil Diamond, Johnny Cash, Engelbert Humperdinck, Tom Jones, and many more. He is also an actor and was featured in Modern Loungemagazine. Discovery Days: Snakes and more with Riki’s Reptile Relocations @ John Paul Landing Park & Environmental Education Center
Wednesday, June 22, from 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. and 2:00 - 3:00 p.m.
All are welcome at this program designed especially for school-aged children. Riki will discuss native snakes and demonstrate how to identify venomous species. Participants will have the chance to meet some of Riki’s animal ambassadors, including snakes and a toad. Registration is required, and space is limited.
