New Playground Equipment Ready for Play at Matheson Park
The new playground at Matheson Park is now open! New features include swings, seesaws, slides, monkey bars, rope climbing, zip lining, and much more. Additional improvements at the park are coming soon, which will include new pickleball courts, trails, and a splashpad.

Jerry Matheson Park is a 10-acre city-owned park across from Juergens Park located at 1240 Ulrich. The park was named after the late Tomball City Council member Jerry Matheson. There are 56 total parking spots and 5 of this total are handicap parking spots. Under the small pavilion, there are six picnic tables to sit under the shade and watch your kids play on the large wooden interactive playground. Inside the playground, there are two park benches. There are no barbeque pits though there are seven trashcans throughout the park.
- Interactive Playground Area – The playground is split into two separate areas: one is specifically for toddlers with a sandbox and a nice shaded area for adults to sit and relax while supervising their children, and the other is for older children as it has more complex and challenging features. There are several shaded areas around the playground and six picnic tables under a small pavilion. Reservation is required. Call for availability.
- Swimming Pool – The pool is an entire facility with a restroom, water fountains, and showers, operated by the City of Tomball. The pool will be open daily from June 2 through August 19 (except Mondays for cleaning and maintenance) during the school’s summer recess. The pool will close for the summer on the last weekend of September. For information about the pool, please click here.
- Pee-Wee Baseball Field – This field is a small fenced area. It is not equipped with lighting but is an excellent field for a family baseball game. There is a small set of bleachers alongside the field.
- Tennis Courts – There are four fenced tennis courts. The courts are lighted and are on a timer. Also, there are six benches inside the courts for the convenience of watching matches or setting your belongings on them. Solicitation of, administering, or receiving paid instructions, lessons, or therapy and the sales of any merchandise at this public facility is strictly prohibited.
