New Children’s Ministry Building Planned for Cypress: Foundry UMC Expands to Meet Growing Community Needs

November 20 2025

As Cypress continues to grow, so does the need for spaces that support families and their children. One of the area’s longtime faith communities, Foundry United Methodist Church (Foundry UMC), is preparing to break ground on a new 12,720-square-foot Children’s Ministry Building at its Fry Road campus. The new facility is scheduled to begin construction in March 2026, with completion anticipated by early January 2027.

The privately funded $5.2 million project will be located at 10203 Fry Rd, Cypress, TX 77433 in northwest Harris County. Designed specifically for religious education purposes, the new building will serve elementary-aged children, expanding the church’s ability to offer age-appropriate programs and community events tailored to younger families.

While the new children’s building is a religious facility, Foundry’s leadership emphasizes that this effort is not just about expanding infrastructure, but about meeting a broader community need.

“Our kids need safe and secure spaces to connect with God, each other, and adults who help them grow in their faith,” the church stated in its campaign materials. “While our current building is well-equipped for our preschoolers, toddlers, and babies, it does not serve the growing needs of our elementary kids”.

This project is part of a broader capital campaign titled “NEXT,” an initiative launched by Foundry to invest in future generations. With a focus on family, faith development, and deeper community connection, the campaign aims to support both physical spaces and spiritual growth. NEXT also includes renovations at the church’s Jones Road campus and a gym expansion designed to function as a community engagement hub.

The planned Fry Road building represents Phase 2 of the church’s long-term master plan. Once completed, it will not only serve children’s programming but will also allow the repurposing of existing space for student and adult ministries. In this way, Foundry hopes to increase opportunities for connection across age groups while accommodating rapid population growth in the Cypress area.

Though deeply rooted in its religious mission, the Foundry’s expansion campaign presents itself in language that speaks to broader values of hospitality, education, and belonging. The project is designed to be accessible and inviting—both to those within the church and to families in the wider community seeking support and connection.

Located in one of the fastest-growing areas of Harris County, Foundry has evolved significantly since launching its Cypress campus out of a movie theater in 2008. Since then, the church has added a permanent campus, partnered in community outreach through Cy-Hope, and launched several initiatives aimed at improving children’s lives—spiritually, emotionally, and practically.

As construction gears up for spring, residents can expect more than just a new building; the Foundry Children’s Building represents an investment in the families and future of Cypress. Whether one is deeply involved in faith life or simply looking for strong community ties and programming for children, the development stands to impact a wide array of local families.
