New Braunfels & Comal County Residents Invited to Free Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off on February 21

February 06 2026

For many households, hazardous materials tend to pile up quietly in garages, sheds, and utility closets—items that are too dangerous for the regular trash but too easy to forget about. On Saturday, February 21, 2026, residents will have a safe, convenient opportunity to clear those items out during the first Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off of the year in New Braunfels.

The free event runs from 8:00 a.m. to noon at 550 Landa Street and is open to Comal County residents and City of New Braunfels residents. Offered only twice a year, this drop-off event provides a responsible way to dispose of materials that can be harmful to people, pets, and the local environment if thrown away improperly.

Household hazardous waste includes common products many residents use regularly, such as herbicides, pesticides, fungicides, pool chlorine, drain cleaners, oven cleaners, paint and paint-related products, automotive fluids, oil filters, and lead-acid batteries. Proper disposal helps prevent soil and water contamination while keeping neighborhood trash systems safe for sanitation workers.

City and county officials encourage residents to take advantage of the event, especially as spring cleaning season approaches. Clearing out old or unused chemicals not only reduces clutter at home but also protects the Hill Country’s natural resources and waterways that the community values.

With no cost to attend and no appointment required, the February 21 Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off makes it easy for New Braunfels and Comal County residents to do the right thing—safely, responsibly, and close to home.
