New $26 Million PAM Health Rehabilitation Hospital Coming to Cypress in 2027, Bringing Specialized Recovery Care Closer to Home
For Cypress families navigating the recovery process after a stroke, major surgery or serious injury, having access to specialized rehabilitation care close to home can make an already difficult experience a little easier. A new $26.1 million hospital planned for northwest Harris County aims to provide that option, giving patients and their loved ones another place to turn when recovery requires more than a traditional hospital stay.
Construction is moving forward on the PAM Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Cypress, a new inpatient rehabilitation facility at 22203 Cypresswood Drive, Cypress, TX 77433. The hospital is expected to open in 2027, bringing specialized medical rehabilitation services to a growing area of northwest Houston where demand for healthcare continues to evolve alongside the community.
According to project records filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR), the new hospital represents an estimated $26,095,000 construction investment, with a projected completion date of August 31, 2027. The project was officially registered with TDLR on February 11, 2026, with May 1, 2026, listed as the anticipated construction start date.
Satterfield & Pontikes Construction (S&P) recently joined PAM Health, AlignSphere Ventures, DSC Architects, physician partners and local community leaders for a groundbreaking ceremony celebrating the project. The development represents another addition to Cypress's expanding healthcare landscape, with a focus on helping patients regain strength, mobility and independence following significant medical challenges.
What Cypress Residents Can Expect From the New PAM Health Rehabilitation Hospital
According to details shared by Satterfield & Pontikes Construction and confirmed in the TDLR construction filing, the new two-story rehabilitation hospital will encompass approximately 62,200 square feet, with plans for 52 patient beds.
The facility is being designed specifically for patients who need intensive rehabilitation and ongoing medical supervision as they recover from conditions such as strokes, traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, orthopedic surgeries and other medically complex illnesses.
Unlike a traditional hospital emergency department or an outpatient physical therapy clinic, an inpatient rehabilitation hospital provides coordinated medical care and rehabilitation services for patients who require a structured recovery program before returning home or transitioning to another level of care.
For families in Cypress, Bridgeland, Fairfield and surrounding northwest Harris County neighborhoods, the addition could mean another local option when a loved one needs rehabilitation following hospitalization.
The building's first floor is planned to house administrative offices, a pharmacy, laboratory, dialysis services, physical therapy areas and other essential support functions. The second floor will include patient rooms with private bathrooms, providing space for patients to rest and recover between treatment sessions.
"A groundbreaking marks the moment a vision begins to take shape," said John Marshall, Chief Revenue Officer for Satterfield & Pontikes Construction. "This project is about creating a place where patients can heal, recover and regain independence close to home."
One detail remains to be clarified as the project progresses. While both the construction announcement and the state's official project registration identify 52 planned patient beds, PAM Health's website currently lists 42 beds for the Cypress location. The final operational bed count has not been confirmed in the information available.
Rehabilitation Services Planned for the Cypress Hospital
The new PAM Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Cypress is expected to serve patients with a broad range of recovery needs, including neurological, orthopedic, cardiopulmonary and other complex medical conditions.
According to the hospital's website, planned rehabilitation services include care for patients recovering from strokes, brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, Parkinson's disease, respiratory failure and neurological disorders.
Orthopedic rehabilitation will also be an important component, including recovery following hip, knee and shoulder replacements, amputations and other procedures affecting mobility and physical function.
The hospital's listed programs also address chronic pain, lymphedema, movement disorders, renal conditions, wound care, infections and certain cancer-related medical needs.
Additional rehabilitation programs identified by PAM Health include balance and vestibular therapy, hand therapy, sensory rehabilitation, spasticity management and other specialized treatments intended to help patients improve everyday functioning.
For someone recovering from a stroke, that may involve relearning how to walk, improving balance or rebuilding the skills needed for daily activities. A patient recovering from a joint replacement may need assistance regaining strength and mobility, while someone with a spinal cord injury may require a more extensive, individualized rehabilitation program.
Although each patient's recovery experience is different, inpatient rehabilitation generally brings medical professionals and therapy specialists together to develop treatment plans based on individual needs and goals.
The Cypress facility's published amenities include bedside and onsite dialysis, a family lounge, interpretation services, support groups, free parking and complimentary Wi-Fi. PAM Health also lists visiting hours of 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., although operational details should be confirmed closer to the hospital's opening.
Who Is PAM Health? A Look at the Healthcare Organization Expanding Into Cypress
For residents unfamiliar with PAM Health, the company has spent approximately two decades developing a nationwide network of hospitals specializing in post-acute medical care and rehabilitation.
Originally founded as Post Acute Medical in 2006, the organization began with the acquisition of three hospitals and has since expanded into a healthcare system serving communities across the United States.
Today, PAM Health reports a network of more than 70 hospitals nationwide and approximately 50,000 patients treated annually. Its facilities include inpatient rehabilitation hospitals and long-term acute care hospitals, which serve different patient populations depending on their medical and recovery needs.
The organization has an established presence in Texas, including rehabilitation facilities in the Houston area, Humble, Sugar Land, Clear Lake and other communities across the state.
Its approach centers on helping people recover from serious illnesses, injuries and disabilities while working toward greater independence and improved quality of life.
PAM Health also emphasizes family involvement in the recovery process through its We Care program, which encourages patients and their loved ones to participate in treatment planning, understand recovery goals and prepare for care following discharge.
That family-centered approach can be particularly meaningful during rehabilitation, when progress often happens gradually and patients may need continued encouragement and assistance long after leaving the hospital.
"Today's groundbreaking represents an investment in the future health of the Cypress community," said Jason Carter, Executive Vice President and President of Optimization for PAM Health. "This hospital will deliver specialized rehabilitation care that helps individuals regain independence, restore function and achieve the best possible outcomes close to home."
A Growing Healthcare Campus for a Growing Cypress Community
The hospital is also part of a larger effort to expand healthcare infrastructure in Cypress as residential development and population growth continue throughout northwest Harris County.
Communities such as Bridgeland and Fairfield, along with established neighborhoods throughout Cypress, are home to families whose healthcare needs can change significantly over time.
While much of the conversation surrounding healthcare growth focuses on new primary care offices, urgent care centers and emergency services, rehabilitation hospitals serve another important purpose.
For patients who have survived a major medical event, being discharged from an acute care hospital does not necessarily mean their recovery is complete. Some require weeks of specialized therapy, medical monitoring and assistance before they can safely resume everyday activities.
Having more rehabilitation options within the community may help reduce the distance families travel to visit loved ones and participate in their care. Actual access will depend on medical eligibility, physician referrals, insurance coverage and available beds.
Dr. Michael Keller, who participated in the groundbreaking celebration, described the project as part of a longer-term vision for healthcare development in the area.
"What makes today so meaningful is seeing a long-term vision become reality," Keller said. "As Cypress continues to grow, so does the need for accessible, high-quality healthcare. The addition of PAM Health represents an important step in building a healthcare campus that serves patients and families through every stage of care."
The project also brings together several organizations involved in healthcare development and construction.
Satterfield & Pontikes Construction, a Houston-based construction company with experience in healthcare and other commercial projects, is participating alongside PAM Health, AlignSphere Ventures, DSC Architects and physician partners.
The $26.1 million estimated construction cost reflects the scale of the planned facility, from its patient accommodations and therapy areas to the specialized medical infrastructure needed to support inpatient rehabilitation. The amount is a construction estimate reported to the state, rather than a confirmed final project cost.
When Will PAM Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Cypress Open?
PAM Health and the project's construction team anticipate completion in 2027, with state construction records providing a more specific projected date of August 31, 2027.
According to the TDLR filing, the project was registered on February 11, 2026, and listed a scheduled construction period beginning May 1, 2026, and concluding August 31, 2027. These dates reflect the construction schedule submitted to the state and may change as work progresses.
Although the August completion date offers a clearer picture of the project's anticipated timeline, an official hospital opening date has not yet been announced. Construction completion and the start of patient admissions are separate milestones.
The hospital's published information identifies its address as 22203 Cypresswood Drive, Cypress, TX 77433, and includes an admissions contact number of 713-814-9107 for questions regarding insurance coverage and financial assistance.
For now, the groundbreaking marks the beginning of a project that could eventually play an important role in the recovery journeys of patients throughout Cypress and northwest Harris County.
For patients recovering from a serious illness, injury or major surgery, the road back to everyday life can involve weeks of therapy, medical care and support from family members. Having access to those services closer to home can make a meaningful difference, particularly for loved ones who want to remain involved throughout the recovery process.
With its planned 2027 opening, PAM Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Cypress aims to give patients and families across northwest Harris County another option for specialized rehabilitation care without having to travel farther from their own community.
