National Eggs Benedict Day
Today is National Eggs Benedict Day! Celebrate by whipping up your favorite version of this cult classic. Originating in 1837 at Delmonico's Restaurant in New York City, the original Eggs Benedict dish consists of toasted brioche bread, two poached eggs, charred Black Forest ham, hollandaise sauce and a delicate topping of caviar. Chef Charles Ranhofer created the dish for Mrs. LeGrand Benedict, a regular Delmonico’s patron at the time.
Today, Eggs Benedict has inspired the creation of a new breed of dishes. Whether you're a traditionalist who appreciates the originality of Eggs Benedict, you're open to exploring unique takes on this concept, or you're somewhere in between, there is something out there for everyone within the inspired-by-Eggs-Benedict stratosphere.
