Monty Ballard YMCA Gears Up to Host 22nd Annual Turkey Dash: A Community Celebration of Fun and Philanthropy
The Katy community is gearing up to kick off the 22nd Annual Turkey Dash, and registration is officially open for this beloved community event. Happening on Thanksgiving morning, the Turkey Dash offers the perfect chance to stretch your legs before indulging in all those delicious holiday feasts. With a lineup of races including a 1 Mile Family Walk/Run, a 1 Mile Kids Race for ages 3-12, a 5K Timed Walk/Run, and a 10K Timed Run, it’s a fun way to burn some calories and make room for that turkey and pie.
The Turkey Dash is not just a race; it is a community gathering. Upon completion of the races, medals are presented to finishers of the 10k, 5k and 1 Mile Kid’s Race, followed by a cheerful Post-Race Party. The event promises a fully equipped Kids Zone alongside various opportunities to interact with local businesses and organizations.
Racing in the YMCA Turkey Dash also promotes a noble cause. Every cent of the proceeds from the Turkey Dash directly benefits the Katy community, providing scholarships that allow all community members to enjoy the memberships and programs offered by YMCA. The 21st Annual YMCA Turkey Dash, held last year, saw over 4,500 community members and successfully raised $250,000. The funds generated helped the YMCA provide memberships and programs for individuals of all ages, from children learning to swim to senior adults seeking social engagement.

The 22nd Annual Turkey Dash is set to take place on Thursday, November 28, 2024 at the Monty Ballard YMCA at Cinco Ranch, located at 22807 Westheimer Parkway, Katy, TX 77494. Families are encouraged to sign up their little ones for the Family Run, with an open invitation to 10K/5K walkers and runners with strollers.
The event also presents multiple volunteering opportunities, such as cheer squad, finish line, kid zone, parking/shuttle station, and more. For those interested in contributing their time and efforts, sign-ups for volunteering are available here.
