Memorial Hermann Cypress Hospital Announces $277.5 Million Expansion to Enhance Capacity and Services by 2027
Memorial Hermann Cypress Hospital has announced an impressive $277.5 million expansion project which is intended to significantly boost the hospital's capacity and service area by 2027. This project, which has been approved by the Memorial Hermann Health System Board, is the third expansion initiated by the hospital in its brief seven-year existence, according to a recent press release.
The project is set to introduce 58 additional beds to the hospital and expand its service area by 347,000 square feet. Jerry Ashworth, the senior vice president and CEO of Memorial Hermann Cypress Hospital, reflected on the expansion stating, "Memorial Hermann Cypress Hospital is committed to meeting the ever-growing health care needs of the Cypress and Waller communities. This expansion is more than a brick-and-mortar project. It will allow us to continue to add and enhance clinical specialties and programs to ensure our neighbors can access both routine and complex health care services close to home."
At the center of this expansion is the introduction of the North Tower - a new, six-story patient tower with the capacity for two additional floors for future growth. This tower will include a new feature for the community: TIRR Memorial Hermann, complete with 12 inpatient rehabilitation beds and a rehabilitation gym. Additionally, the tower will also accommodate 40 universal beds, an array of specialist services including a dialysis suite and the campus’ kitchen and café.
Furthermore, the expansion project will significantly bolster the capabilities of the hospital's Emergency Center, with a boost in bed count from 27 to 40, including eight pediatric rooms and four trauma rooms. Additions to the hospital will also include four Operating Rooms (making a total of 10), an additional cardiac catheterization lab/interventional radiology suite, a new C-section suite and six NICU beds, and growth of the OB Emergency Center from three to five beds.

Infrastructure improvements are also part of the project, with renovations to be undertaken in the main tower to allow for ancillary department growth. The Memorial Hermann Life Flight® helipad will also be relocated to the roof of the hospital’s main tower.
This impressive expansion follows a period of growth at the hospital, which has recently added 62 inpatient beds, a second professional office building, a parking garage and Memorial Hermann Sports Park - Cypress in collaboration with Athlete Training and Health (ATH) and affiliated orthopedic specialists.
