Medina Valley ISD Board of Trustees to Hold March 18 Meeting in Castroville with District Report, Construction Updates, and Public Comment
Families, taxpayers, and community members in Medina Valley ISD will have an opportunity to hear district updates, review the district’s annual report, and participate in public comment during the Medina Valley ISD Regular School Board Meeting scheduled for March 18, 2026.
The meeting will begin at 6:00 p.m. in the Medina Valley ISD Central Office Board Room, located at 8449 FM 471 S in Castroville, and is open to the public. As with all Medina Valley ISD Board of Trustees meetings, the session will provide transparency into district decision-making, financial updates, campus construction progress, and policy considerations affecting students and staff across the district.
School board meetings serve as one of the primary ways residents can stay informed about how the district manages growth, facilities, finances, and student success initiatives — issues that directly impact families, property owners, and the broader Medina Valley community.
Public Hearing on the District Annual Report
One of the key items on the agenda will be a Public Hearing on the District Annual Report, giving trustees and residents a chance to review and discuss district performance and accountability measures.
Community members will be able to provide public comments specifically related to the annual report before the Board continues with its regular meeting agenda.
Public participation is a regular part of Medina Valley ISD board meetings. At regular meetings, the Board of Trustees permits comments on any topic, while special or workshop meetings limit comments to agenda items only.
Residents who wish to speak must sign up before the meeting by emailing publiccomments@mvisd.org with their name, entity, phone number, and subject.
Speaking time is limited according to board policy:
- 1–3 speakers: 5 minutes each
- 4–6 speakers: 3 minutes each
- 7 or more speakers: 2 minutes each
A timer will alert speakers when their time has expired. Under district policy, board members and administrators cannot respond to comments unless providing a factual clarification or referencing district policy.
District Growth and Construction Updates
Trustees will also receive updates from the Finance Committee and Construction Committee, including progress on several major district projects tied to continued enrollment growth across Medina Valley ISD.
Construction briefings are scheduled for several key facilities, including:
- Creek View High School
- Medina Valley High School Ag/JROTC Building
- Medina Valley ISD Middle School #3
- Elementary School #7
As Medina Valley ISD continues to experience rapid population growth in the Castroville and surrounding areas of Medina County, new campuses and facility expansions have become a central focus of district planning and recent bond programs.
Financial and District Performance Reports
The board will also review several financial and operational reports that provide a snapshot of the district’s current standing. These include:
- General Fund Financial Statement
- Child Nutrition Financial Statement
- Debt Service Fund Financial Statement
- Bond 2023 Capital Projects Report
- Bond 2024 Capital Projects Report
Trustees are also scheduled to receive the MVISD District Scorecard presentation covering Priorities 2, 3, and 4, along with a Superintendent Briefing highlighting student achievements, staff recognitions, and updated district enrollment numbers.
These regular reports help the Board track academic progress, operational priorities, and the impact of ongoing investments in facilities and programs.

Policy Updates and Possible Action Items
Several policy updates and administrative items will be considered during the meeting, including Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) initiated revisions to local policies such as DBA, DGBA, DK, EB, EEB, FDA, FNG, and GF.
Trustees may also consider:
- Approval of library books for Creek View High School
- Approval of golf carts for Creek View High School operations
- Procurement methods for Ladera Elementary portable infrastructure
- Procurement for multi-campus kitchen freezer and cooler refrigeration upgrades
In addition, the Board will consider a revision to the 2025–2026 compensation plan to add a Construction Project Manager position, reflecting the district’s expanding facilities program.
Contract Renewals and Scholarship Resolution
Among the potential action items are administrator contract renewals for the 2026–2027 school year and a proposal to adopt a resolution establishing a Salutatorian Scholarship through the Medina Valley ISD Board of Trustees.
The scholarship proposal would recognize and support high-achieving students graduating near the top of their class, further reinforcing the district’s emphasis on academic excellence.
Closed Session Discussions
Trustees will also enter closed session to discuss several confidential matters allowed under Texas Government Code, including:
- Personnel matters such as resignations, retirements, and employment decisions
- Administrator and teacher contract renewals
- Security personnel or safety measures
- Real property considerations
- Discussion of superintendent applicants
Closed sessions allow the Board to discuss sensitive topics before returning to open session for any formal votes or actions.
