Mahjong and Bunco Bring Westheimer Lakes Neighbors Together for Weekly Fun and Friendship

Mahjong and Bunco Bring Westheimer Lakes Neighbors Together for Weekly Fun and Friendship

January 29 2026

In Westheimer Lakes, community isn’t just about where you live—it’s about how you connect. And for many neighbors, that connection is happening across game tables at the Canyon Gate clubhouse every Tuesday afternoon from 1 to 4 p.m.

Local residents are invited to join the fun through two popular games: Mahjong and Bunco. Whether you're a seasoned player or someone who hasn't rolled the dice or drawn a tile in years, everyone is welcome to come out, play, and enjoy the camaraderie.

Weekly Mahjong: Tuesdays from 1–4 p.m.

Mahjong is a centuries-old Chinese tile game that combines skill, strategy, and a little bit of luck. While there are many versions of Mahjong played around the world, most local groups play the American version, which uses a specific card of hands and jokers.

Four players per table work to build matching sets and sequences from 144 intricately decorated tiles. Although it may seem intimidating at first glance, most newcomers pick up the rhythm quickly—and there's always a friendly neighbor nearby to help guide you.

Mahjong in Westheimer Lakes has become a weekly highlight for many, offering not just a mental challenge but also a chance to relax and socialize.

Bunco Night: Once a Month

For residents craving fast-paced fun, monthly Bunco Night offers just the ticket. Bunco is a simple dice game played in large groups of 12 or more. The goal? Roll threes in round three, sixes in round six, and so on—racking up points as you move from table to table.

More than anything, Bunco is about laughter, good company, and maybe even a few prizes for “Most Wins” or “Most Buncos.” It's the perfect mix of lighthearted competition and neighborly bonding, all in the comfort of your own community.

Where It All Happens

Both games take place at the Canyon Gate Clubhouse, located at 25501 Canyon Crossing Dr., Richmond, TX 77406.

To RSVP or ask any questions, residents are encouraged to reach out to Carmen at carmenr@crest-management.com

These events are a great way to get involved, meet new friends, and enjoy a fun afternoon or evening in Westheimer Lakes. So whether you're chasing the elusive Mahjong or hoping to yell “Bunco!”—there’s a seat waiting for you at the table.
