The Woodlands Ice Rink Returns November 20 With Santa Visits, Friday Night Disco Skating and Holiday Events Through January

North Houston
November 05 2026

For many families in The Woodlands, Spring, and Conroe, the holidays wouldn't be quite the same without a trip to the ice rink. Whether it's helping a little one find their balance on skates, laughing through a few wobbly laps with friends or making time for an annual family outing, skating has become one of those simple traditions that people look forward to each winter.

The Woodlands Ice Rink will reopen Friday, November 20, 2026, bringing indoor ice skating back to The Woodlands Town Center for another holiday season. Located at 2005 Lake Robbins Drive, the rink will welcome visitors daily through January 18, 2027, with special events planned throughout its nearly two-month run.

This year's lineup includes an opening night celebration with Santa, ice dancing and family entertainment, along with two Cookies and Cocoa with Santa and Friends events in December and Friday night Disco Skating sessions featuring music, lights and changing themes.

Opening Night at The Woodlands Ice Rink Set for November 20

The season gets underway with a Season Opening Event and Ribbon Cutting on Friday, November 20, from 6 to 9 p.m.

Visitors can enjoy a choreographed ice dance performance, festive entertainment and appearances by special surprise guests. Santa Claus will also be there to greet families, while balloon artists and face painters provide additional fun for children.

The celebration offers an early start to the holiday festivities, arriving just ahead of Thanksgiving and giving families a chance to get back on the ice before December calendars begin filling up.

Regular admission fees apply during the three-hour event.

Families interested in attending can find additional details on The Woodlands Township Parks and Recreation event page.

Santa Returns to the Ice December 6 and December 20

Children hoping to see Santa before Christmas will have two special opportunities at The Woodlands Ice Rink this season.

Cookies and Cocoa with Santa and Friends will take place Sunday, December 6, and Sunday, December 20, inviting skaters to share the ice with Santa and his holiday friends.

For families who already make visiting Santa part of their Christmas traditions, the skating sessions offer a different way to spend time with him. Instead of the usual photo line, children can enjoy being on the ice alongside Santa and other seasonal characters.

The rink will also host surprise character appearances during select sessions throughout the season, so visitors may encounter a few familiar faces even outside the scheduled Santa events.

Specific session details and admission information can be found through the official Woodlands Ice Rink website.

Friday Nights Bring Disco Skating to The Woodlands

Not every visit to the rink has to be about Christmas.

This season, Friday nights will feature Disco Skating, giving guests an opportunity to skate to music under colorful lights, with rotating themes planned throughout the winter.

The sessions are another option for teenagers looking for something to do with friends, couples planning a casual date night or families wanting to get out of the house at the end of the school and workweek.

With the rink remaining open into January, there will be opportunities to enjoy these themed skating nights even after the Christmas decorations start coming down.

When Is The Woodlands Ice Rink Open for the 2026-2027 Season?

The Woodlands Ice Rink will operate daily from November 20, 2026, through January 18, 2027, covering Thanksgiving week, the Christmas holidays, New Year's celebrations and much of the winter school break.

The indoor rink provides a seasonal skating destination for residents of The Woodlands, Spring, Conroe, Magnolia and nearby communities who want to enjoy ice skating without having to depend on cold weather.

Its location in The Woodlands Town Center also makes it convenient to include skating as part of a larger holiday outing, whether families are planning an afternoon together or meeting friends for an evening out.

Visitors can purchase admission online in advance or inquire about walk-up availability during operating hours. Because session schedules and availability can vary, checking the rink's website before visiting is recommended, especially during the busiest weeks of the holiday season.

Another Holiday Season of Making Memories on the Ice

There is something familiar about seeing the rink reopen each November. Some families return with children who have grown a little taller and become a little steadier on their skates. Others will be visiting for the first time, perhaps introducing a new generation to a tradition they remember from their own childhood.

And while The Woodlands Ice Rink is a holiday attraction, it also offers something families can enjoy well beyond Christmas Day. With skating available through January 18, residents have time to fit in a visit after the holiday rush, reconnect with friends during winter break or simply spend an afternoon doing something different together.

For those looking for Christmas events in The Woodlands, family activities in Montgomery County or indoor ice skating near Houston, the rink's return gives residents another reason to make plans close to home this holiday season.
