Lytle ISD 2024 Bond Construction Moves Forward as Primary Addition and Transportation Facility Take Shape
Lytle ISD families are beginning to see real progress from the voter-approved 2024 Bond—and for students at Lytle Primary School, the transformation is unfolding right before their eyes.
With roof joists going up in the new Primary School gym, sprinkler piping and overhead ductwork being installed in the classroom addition, and electrical and plumbing work beginning at the District Transportation Facility, construction activity across Lytle ISD is steadily advancing. Approved by voters in May 2024, the $20.6 million bond package is funding campus expansions and infrastructure upgrades designed to support both current students and the district’s future growth.
For families wondering how the Lytle ISD bond is progressing, the answer is clear: the work is well underway—and increasingly visible.
Primary School Addition: Steel, Framing and a Front-Row Seat for Students
According to the January construction update, approximately 75% of the steel decking is complete on the Primary addition roof, and interior framing work has begun. Major steel components are now in place, forming the structural outline of the expanded campus.
About 23 crew members are working on site daily, with safety remaining a priority throughout the build. Students have a unique opportunity to watch the process unfold thanks to porthole windows installed by Marksmen Construction in one wall of the existing Primary building. Through those circular windows, children can see cement being poured, steel rising, framing taking shape, and pipes being installed—turning construction into a real-world learning experience.
The Primary campus expansion includes:
- Addition of classroom spaces
- Gym addition
- Parking addition and relocation
As steel rises and walls begin to frame in, the expansion is no longer just a blueprint—it is becoming part of the campus skyline.
Transportation Facility Improvements and Upgrades
Work is also progressing at the Lytle ISD Transportation Center, where utility locating and site preparation have begun. Electrical and plumbing work is underway as part of the addition and maintenance improvements planned for the facility.
In addition to the original bond scope, Lytle ISD has identified $175,000 in desired upgrades to the transportation facility, including electric bay doors, a covered storage area, additional floor sinks, air compressors, and hose reels. District officials noted these added costs are expected to be covered by investment interest earned on bond proceeds.
Current contingency funding stands at $637,947 for the Primary project and reflects adjustments at the transportation facility. The district plans to request additional contingency funds from the Board to ensure flexibility for unforeseen costs as construction continues.
For families, these upgrades may not be as visible as new classrooms, but they directly support safe, reliable student transportation and long-term operational efficiency.

Playground Improvements and Next Steps
The Elementary playground project is also moving forward. A permit has been issued, and site preparation is expected to begin soon.
Additional upcoming steps include:
- Power transformer upgrades by CPS for the Primary addition
- Third-party welding inspections at the Primary campus
These milestones reflect the layered coordination required for school construction projects—ensuring compliance, safety, and infrastructure readiness before buildings open to students.
Why the Lytle ISD 2024 Bond Matters to Families
School bond construction projects often span multiple years, but their impact can last decades. For Lytle ISD, the 2024 Bond is not simply about adding square footage. It represents:
