Lytle High School’s Chase Guevara Selected for San Antonio Sports All-Star Basketball Game

Lytle High School’s Chase Guevara Selected for San Antonio Sports All-Star Basketball Game

April 11 2026

Lytle High School senior Chase Guevara is headed to one more big stage before graduation.

Guevara has been selected to play in the 2026 San Antonio Sports All-Star Basketball Game, where he will represent Lytle on Team White in the boys 1A-5A division on Sunday, April 12, at Northside Sports Gym. For Lytle, the selection is more than a postseason honor. It is a chance for the community to watch one of the Pirates’ most accomplished seniors close out his high school basketball career in an event that brings together top players from across the San Antonio area.

The recognition comes at the end of a career that has unfolded in public for much of the town to see. Lytle High School has noted that Guevara has spent four years on varsity, growing from a freshman contributor on a UIL state tournament team into a senior leader. In a January 2025 game against Jourdanton, he crossed the 1,000-point mark after finishing with 26 points, five rebounds, five assists and four steals, another sign of the all-around impact he has had on the program.

By his senior year, Guevara had become one of the faces of Lytle athletics. The school announcement on his all-star selection said he was nearing 2,000 career points, earned All-Academic honors and will continue his academic and athletic career at Texas Lutheran University this fall. Those details help explain why this latest milestone carries extra meaning in Lytle. It is not just recognition for a strong season, but for years of production, consistency and leadership inside one of the community’s most visible programs.

His athletic résumé also stretches well beyond basketball. In football, Lytle High School recognized Guevara as both the 14-3A Division I WR of the Year and DB of the Year, underscoring his status as one of the school’s top multi-sport athletes. In smaller communities, that kind of versatility tends to resonate deeply because residents often watch athletes grow across seasons, not just in a single sport. Guevara’s all-star selection now gives Lytle another moment to celebrate a player many families have watched develop for years.

The San Antonio Sports All-Star Basketball Game has become a notable postseason showcase for senior talent in the region. KSAT reported when the 2026 rosters were announced that the event, now in its third annual edition, features more than 100 of the top high school senior basketball players from across the greater San Antonio area. Players are divided between Team Blue and Team White and split into two groups: UIL and TAPPS Classes 1A-5A, and UIL and TAPPS Class 6A. The day also includes a 3-point contest and Skills Challenge, with the competitions broadcast on KSAT 12, KSAT.com and KSAT+.

This is not simply a routine all-district nod or end-of-season mention. It places him in a regional event designed to spotlight some of the area’s best senior players before they move on to the college level or the next chapter of life. For a school like Lytle High School, having a player included in that field is the kind of recognition that reflects positively on the athlete, the coaching staff and the strength of the program itself.

For local fans, the timing adds to the significance. With Guevara set to continue at Texas Lutheran University, Sunday’s all-star game serves as both an honor and a sendoff. It gives classmates, teachers, teammates and Pirate supporters one more opportunity to see him wear Lytle colors in a high-profile setting before he leaves for college. In communities like Lytle, those final high school appearances often carry a little extra weight because they mark the close of something familiar: a player who has been part of Friday nights, packed gyms and school pride for years stepping into what comes next.

For younger athletes in the district, the moment also offers a tangible example of what steady growth can look like. Guevara’s path was not built in a single season. It developed over four years on varsity, through milestone scoring performances, leadership roles and recognition in multiple sports. His place in the San Antonio Sports All-Star Basketball Game shows that players from smaller communities can earn a place in regional spotlight events while still carrying the identity of their hometown with them.

As Lytle prepares to watch Guevara take the floor one more time, this story is ultimately about more than a roster spot. It is about a hometown athlete finishing strong, a school community seeing its support reflected on a larger stage, and a final high school chapter that has given Pirate fans plenty to remember.
