LSC-CyFair Celebrates Champions of Student Success with Annual Excellence Awards
With on-campus and system recognition events, Lone Star College-CyFair is celebrating a chosen few outstanding recipients of employee excellence awards given for their exceptional service and support of more than 21,000 students this year.
LSC-CyFair’s Faculty Excellence Award winners are David Maslane, Miranda Ashworth and Preeti Singh, who teach English, Political Science and Math, respectively. These faculty make content in their disciplines relatable and relevant to students’ lives, benefitting them both now and in the future, primarily through scholarly debate, healthy critique and engaging discussion. Each faculty recipient has a desire to help students become curious, self-motivated and confident learners as they prepare students for success, not only in the classroom but in their personal and professional future.
Making a positive difference in LSC-CyFair students’ lives through their respective fields of Spanish, kinesiology, English and business, are Adjunct Faculty Excellence Award winners Roiann Baskin, David Boettcher, David Glaesemann and Huan Pham. These recipients are all career educators and while they may teach online or on campus part time, they connect, motivate, empower and inspire their students toward success full time. These instructors share their passion and real-world experience to make learning relevant now and later for students.
Recipients of the Staff Excellence Award are recognized as the dedicated, hardworking employees contributing to the success of LSC-CyFair students and coworkers as well the Cy-Fair community. These employees are found on the front lines assisting students before they even get into the class. They are also working behind the scenes supporting their colleagues and managing internal and external events. Award recipients include the Nursing Department’s part-time staff assistant Ricardo Bernabe and full-time Academic Advisor Evelyn Flores, Special Events Manager Celia Harper, Call Center Lead Syiya Latson and Learning, Engagement and Development Center Coordinator Danielle Trent.
