Looking Out for One Another: E-Bike and Scooter Safety in Inwood Park
Inwood Park is a neighborhood that looks out for one another—and lately, a growing number of residents have raised concerns about safety when it comes to kids riding electric bikes and scooters through the community. While it's great to see young neighbors enjoying the outdoors, some riding habits have become worrisome, especially near moving traffic.
At a recent HOA meeting, residents shared that some riders have been seen zipping out between parked cars or crossing streets without looking, often surprising drivers and pedestrians alike. The conversation wasn’t about pointing fingers—it was about keeping everyone safe.
Electric scooters and e-bikes are exciting new ways to get around, but they come with responsibilities. In Texas, these are considered motor-assisted vehicles, and riders are expected to follow traffic laws—just like cars do. That includes stopping at stop signs, staying to the right side of the road, and yielding to pedestrians.

Parents are kindly encouraged to talk with their kids about safe riding habits and the importance of being alert. Helmets and reflective gear are also a great way to boost safety, especially during early evening hours.
If you see unsafe riding that puts others at risk, you can report it to the Harris County Constable Precinct 4 through their online traffic complaint form at constablepct4.com/report-a-traffic-complaint.html or call 281-376-3472. Your input helps everyone stay safe.
With a little extra care and communication, Inwood Park can continue to be a safe, active, and neighborly place to live.
