Lone Star College-CyFair Offers Budget-Friendly Holiday Entertainment for All Ages

November 08 2024

As the holiday season approaches, Lone Star College-CyFair (LSC-CyFair) is gearing up to offer an exciting range of family-friendly events that are light on cost but heavy on fun. Throughout November and December, the college’s Center for the Arts will host a variety of musical performances and visual arts showcases that cater to all ages, ensuring there is something for everyone this festive season.

For music enthusiasts, LSC-CyFair’s instrumental and vocal performances will provide an affordable option for those seeking quality entertainment. Tickets are priced at just $10 for general admission, $5 for senior citizens, and parking is free. The month of November will feature several standout performances from student musicians and special guest artists. Highlights include two Opera Workshop performances on November 18-19, a combined Symphonic Band and Symphony Orchestra concert on November 22, and a Jazz Ensemble performance on November 25.

The holiday season’s musical offerings continue into December with a Percussion Ensemble performance on December 3, showcasing original compositions by students and faculty. The music program will wrap up the year with a Choir Concert on December 6.

For visual art lovers, the Bosque Gallery will present its semi-annual Student Art Showcase from November 21 to December 6. This exhibition will display a variety of student-created works, including two- and three-dimensional designs, ceramics, photography, drawing, and paintings. Attendees can visit with the student artists during the opening reception and awards ceremony to discuss their creative process.

Beyond music and art, LSC-CyFair’s library is also getting into the holiday spirit by celebrating International Games Month this November. The library is hosting a number of fun and interactive activities, including giant Boggle, life-sized chess, puzzle tables, and game nights, all free of charge and open to the public.

These events offer the perfect opportunity for families in Cypress to enjoy a rich cultural experience without breaking the bank.
