
Katy ISD’s Lisa Kassman Honored as International Fellow for Excellence in School Design
Lisa Kassman, the executive director of Facilities, Planning and Construction for Katy Independent School District, has been named a Fellow by the Association for Learning Environments (A4LE)—one of the highest honors in the global field of educational facility planning and design.
The title of A4LE Fellow is reserved for professionals who exemplify the highest level of experience, integrity, and leadership in creating innovative and sustainable learning environments. Kassman joins a distinguished group of experts worldwide, selected through a rigorous nomination and jury evaluation process.
“I am truly honored to be named a Fellow by A4LE because of the organization’s position as an industry leader worldwide,” Kassman said. “I am particularly proud of this honor because it reflects well on the work we’ve completed here in Katy ISD as we’ve sought to meet the needs of our growing district.”

This prestigious fellowship adds to Kassman’s recent accolade of 2024 A4LE Director of the Year, further cementing her status as a standout figure in school infrastructure planning.
With more than 40 years of experience in the design and construction industry and over 25 years of service in Katy ISD, Kassman has overseen transformational growth within one of Texas’s fastest-growing school districts. Under her guidance, Katy ISD has opened dozens of new campuses, implemented cutting-edge safety and sustainability standards, and adapted to the evolving educational landscape—all while maintaining fiscal and architectural excellence.
Eligibility for the A4LE Fellow designation is based on a comprehensive set of criteria, including at least 20 years in the industry, 15 years of A4LE membership, and a proven track record of leadership and knowledge-sharing. Kassman’s legacy includes serving in various leadership roles within the organization and mentoring future professionals in educational design.
