Katy ISD Launches Summer Meals Program to Ensure No Child Goes Hungry During Summer Break

May 27 2024

As we move into the summer season, the Katy Independent School District (Katy ISD) is continuing its commitment to ensuring that no child goes hungry. With the Summer Meals Program, the district ensures students have access to nutritious meals even when school is out.

Leading the charge for this beneficial program, the Katy ISD Nutrition and Food Services Department aims to promote healthy eating by providing a variety of nutritious meals to students and their families throughout the summer. Meals are provided to children ages 18, as well as enrolled students with disabilities up to age 21.

The Summer Meals Program offers breakfast and lunch opportunities to students across the district. While the meals are available for all children under 18, some aspects require students to eat on campus. It's important to note that the Food Service Department is making efforts to cater to various dietary needs by providing accommodations where necessary.

Please keep in mind that Katy ISD encourages a cashless payment system for meals through the Pay N' Go app. However, they will accept cash and checks for meal payments curbside, and any change will be deposited directly into the student’s account.

As for the schedule, see the table below for a list of meal sites, dates, and times:

To determine eligibility for free or reduced-price meals for the 2023-2024 school year, families with students not attending a Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) campus must complete a Meal Benefits application, accessible here. More information on benefits is available here, and eligibility guidelines can be found here. Students attending a USDA-designated CEP campus will continue to receive free meals without needing to complete the application. More information on the CEP program and eligible Katy ISD campuses can be found here.

Katy ISD encourages families to take advantage of these beneficial resources and services they have put in place. For further information on the Summer Meals Program and other food services provided by the district, visit katyisdfoodservices.com
