Katy ISD Holds Annual Brick Unveiling Ceremony, Honoring Teachers of the Year
In a heartfelt and festive celebration, Katy ISD recently hosted its annual Brick Unveiling ceremony, honoring the district's Teachers of the Year for the 2023-2024 school year. The event, attended by hundreds, took place at Katy Heritage Park, where 76 distinguished educators received commemorative bricks, each one symbolizing their exceptional contributions to education and their lasting impact on the Katy community.
“This night is about celebrating the educators who go above and beyond to serve our students and schools,” said Dr. Ken Gregorski, Katy ISD Superintendent, during the ceremony. “It is my privilege to thank each of you for the extraordinary impact you have on our students, schools, and community.”

The Brick Unveiling ceremony is part of a longstanding tradition in Katy ISD, where outstanding educators are honored with a permanent tribute. The bricks, engraved with the names of the Teachers of the Year, are placed in Katy Heritage Park as a lasting reminder of their dedication to excellence in teaching.
Katy Heritage Park, a space that holds significant historical value in Katy, was the perfect backdrop for the event. The park is home to five historic Katy structures and a beautiful bandstand, offering a glimpse into the community's rich past. With homes dating back over 100 years, the park is a cherished landmark in the heart of Katy. The park grounds, open from dawn until dusk, offer visitors the opportunity to picnic, explore, and appreciate the local history.
The commemorative bricks are placed in the park’s plaza, located just south of the Wright Museum. The plaza is beautifully lined with bricks, each personalized with tributes to community members, educators, and donors, ensuring that their legacies are etched into the fabric of Katy's history. These tributes serve as a permanent testament to the educators who have shaped generations of students and enriched the lives of families in the area.
This year’s ceremony was made possible thanks to the generous collaboration of Venus Construction, Modern Pest Control, and the Katy Heritage Society, all of whom helped ensure that the evening was a success, whose support is part of a broader effort to celebrate and preserve the legacy of exceptional educators and community leaders in Katy ISD.
