Katy Elks Lodge 2628 to Host Backpack Giveaway to Support Local Students and Community

The Katy Elks Lodge 2628 is gearing up to host a BackPack Giveaway event, offering free school backpacks with essential supplies included for all school-aged kids. This event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, August 3rd, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the lodge, located at 1050 Katy Fort Bend, Katy, TX 77493.

Katy Elks are part of one of the largest and most active fraternal organizations globally, known for their motto, "Elks care, Elks share." Founded on February 16, 1868, in New York, the Elks lodge now has a vast network of 2,100 lodges nationwide.

Offering a wide variety of programs, ranging from scholarships to drug education to Veterans Services, the Elks are deeply involved in public service. They believe in bettering their communities and living up to their motto through various programs. Notably, this organization operates on a 100% volunteer basis, emphasizing the value of individual contributions to their cause.

As a part of their community service, the Katy Elks Lodge hosts various events throughout each month. Aside from their backpack giveaway, these include a monthly breakfast with local veterans on every first Saturday. The Lodge is open from 3:00 PM to around 10:00 PM on Sundays (opening at noon during Football season), and from 5:00 PM to midnight from Monday through Thursday. On Fridays and Saturdays, it remains open from 5:00 PM to 2:00 AM.

For their philanthropic endeavors, the Elks have extended a staggering amount of over $3.5 billion to charitable, welfare, educational, and veterans programs since 1878. Furthermore, they annually award an estimated $3.3 million in college scholarships, standing true to their charitable mission.
